Oh yea… the steak sauce was out of this world…made with a secret ingredient, which they told us was love… We definitely felt it!

What a great restaraunt for the area. Excellent seafood, thoroughly enjoyed the scallop dish with perfectly cooked scallops! The appetizers were also excellent. Service was excellent when we were there, very attentive and made to check in if we needed anything frequently. The location is spectacular with an excellent view across the water to Valcour Island, can even do some.people watching as they come and go from the marina below. Likely to need reservations depending in the day as it got rather busy towards the end of our meal with most tables full. Accesible both by road or by boat which is also fantastic.

Great food and service with a relaxing and commanding view of Lake Champlain. The drinks and food were awesome. Teresa was a gracious host and Jake took excellent care of us. Thanks to Ann Marie at the Shamrock Motel for the recommendation and getting us a window seat!

Was looking for somewhere fancy to take my fiance out for a date, and I would say the Mariner is possibly the fanciest restaurant in the area. Cocktails were on point and the Beef Wellington was amazing!

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed a birthday meal at the Mariner on Labour Day weekend and we are already planning a return soon! First, do not let the plain street facade trick you: the stylish-but-easygoing vibe inside and the stunning lake views more than makes up for it. Food was delicious and clearly made with care. In restaurants, it’s often the simple things that are the most difficult to get consistently right but the chefs here definitely knew what they were doing! The fries were thin, crispy and perfectly salted (just like you would find them at a French brasserie) and the broth accompanying the steamed mussels was just INSANELY good. Service was attentive and we really felt welcomed by the friendly owners-managers Brandon and Theresa. So do make the drive (from Plattsburgh or elsewhere) and check it out for yourselves if you haven’t already. This restaurant is a gem! N.B. If I had to suggest one thing, I guess it would be to consider adding a few more intimate tables to the large 6-person family-style setups. This would be a great spot to visit with a small group or for a special date.

Coquille st jacques was very sweet. Disgusting. We ordered 2 orders and asked waitress about it. I scraped brown goup…”hollandaise sauce with brownsugar” She said that was the way they made it. The salmon was well done. Steak Taco’s were good. Customer service any where these days is hard to come by. We had guests from Montreal and they clearly treated us differently than my previous visits. Impatient. Waited for drinks. Not knowledgeable of the menu. No concern over pancake st jacques!! The location has a beautiful view. The interior was nicely redone.

“The kitchen staff didn’t realize that butter was dairy.”
*Not recommended, especially if you have food allergies*
I live in LA and I’m back home in NY for the first time in 10 years and my family wanted me to have a great dining experience, but unfortunately, it was one of my worst… first of all, we waited 20 min and had to ask twice just for water. Then, we ordered drinks and appetizers and I made it very clear I had a dairy allergy. We ordered a pineapple mojito, which was on the specials board, but they brought a grapefruit Cosmo instead. 20 minutes later our appetizers came out, both covered in cheese, so I could not eat them. We put in our entree orders and, of course, mine came out covered in dairy and not as described on the menu… so I could not eat that either. They said they were “cooking up French fries” for me (which I didn’t want), but when I asked for my asparagus with no butter, they told me the kitchen was closed. We reordered the mojito “special” and it came out without mint. My old fashions had no cherries. The steaks were overcooked.
They did end up comping some of our food and drinks (our bill was still $200), but I think the worst part was when the owner came out and asked how everything was, then tried telling us that “the kitchen staff didn’t realize that butter was dairy.”
Simply put – no one I know will ever be going back there.
