Let me be clear: the chicharrones here are not just good. They are dangerously good. I’m talking “you tell yourself you’ll have one… and suddenly the bag is empty and you’re staring into the distance wondering what just happened” good.
Crunch level? Elite.
Flavor? Illegal in at least 12 countries, probably.
Emotional impact? I’m considering writing them into my will.
The first bite was so perfectly crispy that I actually paused mid-chew just to respect it. My table probably thought I was having a moment of silence. I was. For the chicharrones.
Then I had another.
And another.
And then I started wondering if it would be socially acceptable to order only chicharrones for the rest of my life. The sandwich I ordered was good, don’t get me wrong — solid, respectable, doing its job — but the chicharrones were the main character of this entire story. The sandwich was basically the supporting actor trying to keep up.
At one point I considered asking the staff if they sell the chicharrones by the pillowcase so I could just bring them home and roll around in them like a crunchy little raccoon.
Service was great, everything was clean, food came out fast — but let’s be honest, my memory is 90% chicharrones at this point. If there was a movie about this visit, it would simply be titled “Chicharrones: The Reckoning.”
In conclusion:
⭐ Sandwich – great
⭐ Service – great
⭐ Atmosphere – great
⭐ Chicharrones – life changing
If you go to Jason’s Deli and don’t try the chicharrones, I genuinely don’t know what you’re doing with your life.
It definitely feels like a mostly Spanish spot, which isn’t a bad thing — the culture and music give it a nice vibe. Still, I think they could make it feel a little more welcoming for everyone, no matter your background. It’s the kind of place that could really bring people together if they added a few small touches to make all customers — Black, white, Latino, or anyone — feel equally comfortable.
Overall, I’d go back for the food, but I hope they tighten up the pricing and make it a bit more inviting for all kinds of people.
When I called to let them know, the woman who answered the phone immediately got argumentative and tried to tell me I was wrong about what I ordered — as if I don’t know what I paid for. Instead of apologizing or trying to fix the mistake, she gave me an attitude and turned it into an argument.
This is not how you handle a customer who didn’t receive what they paid for. The owner should be aware that the person answering calls is providing extremely poor customer service and damaging the business’s reputation.
Very disappointing experience. If you call and a woman answers the phone, don’t waste your time or money.
