Is there an option to give six stars? This was an amazing experience from start to finish. The rotating chefs and menu add an element of surprise that makes every food lover’s brain light up with anticipation. Each dish in the five-course meal was thoughtfully curated and absolutely delicious. The chefs were engaging and interactive throughout the evening, creating a warm, memorable experience that felt both personal and impeccably executed. It’s the kind of meal I’ll be thinking about for months to come. I can’t wait to go back!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience with Chef Alex and Toph as our host and server. The five course menu was absolutely amazing. Everything was to die for. I can’t say enough about the quality and level of service we received. I thought it was awesome how they have a very limited wine menu but all the bottles that they had were of exceptional quality for a fair price. I think R. kitchen is an exceptional value for a top-tier experience with top-tier food. Thank you for the amazing memories and I hope I’ll be in Charleston again so I can have another amazing dining experience.

I had high expectations for this place but left feeling very underwhelmed. Maybe it was an off night but for the price I expected a lot more.
Pros: the chefs were very nice and accommodating. We got to sit up at the bar and it was really nice to feel part of the action. I also loved the vibe inside the restaurant.
Food: some of the dishes were very good (the potato soup and braised beef with mashed potatoes. I also enjoyed the squash dessert because it wasn’t super sweet) but some of the other dishes were bland and severely lacking. One dish we were served was gnocchi with a tomato and red pepper sauce. Flavor was ok but the dish was served cold (not sure if this was intentional). There was also a dish with pork loin and a zucchini and potato type latke. Pork loin was good but was also served cold and the latke(also cold) had zero flavor and I didn’t even taste the tiniest bit of salt.
For the price I expected a lot more in terms and flavor and attention to detail (making sure food was seasoned and served hot). I also thought (based on reviews) it would be a more interactive experience with the chefs.
Again, maybe it was an off night.

Omg I can’t say enough about R Kitchen! They cook right on front of you. You get a five course meal.
You are on their kitchen. You never know what the chef’s are going to make. You’ve got great hard rock playing which I loved. The food unbelievable! The vibe is awesome! Roasted red pepper soup, shrimp and grits….the best I’ve ever had, and the braised beef is incredible! The dessert amazing… I can’t remember what it was but the butterscotch sauce delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely one of the best food experiences I have ever had. The chefs are personable. Each chefs introduces you to their small plate dish, telling you the Inspiration, the ingredients and why/how they created it. The food was fabulous, creative and well presented. Make reservations ahead if you can. My only disappointment was that we waited till daybof and made reservations, the place is small and you eat as a group with others, however due to our late reservation, we were on patio and we were not with others. (Although i believe the patio also normally has a “group”experience also. If you want a quiet romantic dinner alone, this is not your place. If you want an experience and a group atmosphere with good music, food, and company; this should be on the top of your list!!!

What a fantastic, unique experience! John & Lee were our chefs for the evening and prepared delicious courses along with lively conversation. Will visit again the next time we are in Charleston.

Amazing experience. The chefs get to create a five course menu freely. Everything was delicious, and I enjoyed hearing them describe their meals. We’ll surely come back!

My boyfriend and I came here on our last night of vacation in Charleston, SC. We were treated to a delectable five course meal that consisted of many different exquisitely handmade dishes. The chefs were so friendly and personable, and it was very clear how much passion they had for their craft! Everything tasted so delicious and it was exciting that they choose the day’s menu each day, so you never really know what you will get! They are very respectful of dietary restrictions, as some of the other guests had special instructions and requests.

This was one of, if not the best, dining experiences we’ve ever had. It was super intimate with only about 12 people total for dinner. From the soup to the dessert, everything was phenomenal. Chefs Patrick and Kevin were so kind, funny, entertaining and informative. Our favorite dish by far was a play on chicken and dumplings that chef Patrick made. It had a gnocchi base that was to die for. It is truly worth every penny to sit at the counter and watch everything be prepared and plated. Patrick also had a fire playlist going! Will 1000% be back next time we’re in Charleston

R Kitchen is one of the most unique and fun meals I’ve ever had. However, it’s important to know what this place is – and that is not a typical dining experience.
This is a small house/shack off Spring that opens up into a typical small eat spot im chuck, not fancy by any means, but gets the job done. We were sat around the “bar” which is actually a completely open kitchen setup to watch the chefs cook. The 2-3 chefs – who look like they could have been in college – provided an introduction to themselves, their concept, menu, and ended with “oh and we play music while we cook, and if you don’t like it…we don’t care, enjoy your meal!” – then proceeded to blast a range of music starting with 50 Cent “Many Men”. Some may be put off with this, but i found it very humorous and provided a “shock factor”.
The two young gents proceeded to turn out a surprisingly delicious multi-course meal which was delicious by any standards! Served it right in front of us, personally passing us each dish.
Was a very fun meal, and worth the price for what you get. But – you will sit in a small space/bar, there will be loud music, it wont be fancy, and you will eat a lot of good food for a reasonable price. If that sounds like your choice of song from the jukebox, then get your quarters ready for your next Saturday night dinner.
