While planning for my vacation to DC, this was one of the few places that really caught my attention for some reason. I’ll say the experience was alright! I wasn’t very hungry so just had the main and a dessert. The complementary bread and butter was delicious. For the main, I got the Duck Confit, and will say it was prepared really well; loved the crisp skin on the duck leg and the carrots with the potatoes were cooked to perfection. The cabbage however was soaking in the sauce which probably made it soggy and the texture chewy. Still overall a good dish. The Grand Marnier Soufflé was quite delicious but not great because the texture seemed runnier than usual. Perhaps it was the immediate addition of the crème sauce that made it that way. I was really hoping for a smooth consistency.
The ambiance was lovely with a cozy fireplace, still the tables were quite cramped. Not bad for a one time experience.

I was greeted with such warmth and I loved all the service as well as all the food. They had a special when I was there, it was the ribeye, which was absolutely delicious. The drinks were flowing. I got martinis, wine and champagne. The staff and the chef came out to greet us, which was so incredibly nice I cannot recommend this place enough. I love it so much and cannot wait to return!

We had the best experience dining at La Chaumiere – an icon in Georgetown. The food, wine and service were fantastic. Our server was Philipé and he made our dining experience very special. We will be back as a group next holiday season and hope to bring my family back before then. I appreciate you Gil and Tony. Thank you for everything!

This is my first French restaurant in a very long time and it didnt disappoint. For me beyond finding delicious food, I’m always looking for a place that enhances the experience whether it began an outing with friends or your partner. I highly recommend this place for partner vibes. It is elegant and cozy and of course from the food to drinks is amazing.
For me the price makes this a once in awhile experience but when it occurs it will be delightful.

Cozy, fancy restaurant with delicious French cuisine. We went as part of the DC restaurant week, and had the Steak au Poivre and Veal. The French Onion soup was delicious, the cheese was creamy with just the right amount of caramelization. Service was polite and attentive. It is a relatively small place, most people adjusted volume accordingly.

I have been lucky enough to dine at this lovely restaurant when in town for over 30 years. It never disappoints. The tables and seating are comfortable, the acoustics in the main dining room even when full make it easy to talk, and the fireplace in the winter add an added measure of coziness. The service is intuitive, efficient and welcoming. And on top of all that, the food is delicious. I return for the mussels—the best I have had outside of France and the soufflés are the perfect end to a wonderful meal. But almost every dish on the menu is authentic and perfectly prepared.

A hidden gem for old school French cooking with a atmosphere that takes you out of the chaos of DC and into a quiet French lodge back in time. We came for a girls’ dinner and all enjoyed the 3 course special, all loving the flavors and quality of each course. The atmosphere and attention of the staff really ales this place special, I hope they never change!

We had a wonderful time here for dinner! Our server Renee was so kind and attentive but not overbearing. When I told him I was amazed by the chive sauce he went into the kitchen and came back with the sauce chef’s instructions for how he makes it!! It was very kind and the food and vibe were all fantastic. I was wowed by the salmon dish, so much that the veal dish my date got was a little less impressive but overall very good.

I visited this charming French restaurant for the first time, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The space itself is cozy and cute.
Now, the food… exceptional. The group got a wide range of dishes, and not one person was disappointed. From the appetizers to the main courses, we went all out: mussels, salad, french onion soup, lobster crab cakes, ribeyes, veal, lamb chops, duck, and beef medallions. Every single dish was amazing and every single person at our table enjoyed their meal.
And then came the dessert—the star of the night – the soufflé. Decadent, beautifully presented, and truly the perfect ending to an already stunning meal.
Overall, this restaurant exceeded every expectation. Fantastic food, hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Imagine a snowy, cold night in Georgetown, walking into beautiful La Chaumiere for my husband’s surprise bday dinner. The private room was reminiscent of a cozy Parisian brasserie. The waitstaff polished, warm attentive and the food….everyone’s meal from appetizers to dessert, was absolutely delicious. I’d call that a perfect evening. Thank you all at La Chaumiere. We will be back very soon.
