Do not pass up this amazing authentic sushi restaurant. In fact, I would drive from MO to IL just to have this food again.

We stopped in at 7:00 pm and didn’t realize they closed at 8:00 but were greeted with a friendly smile from a sweet lady who I’m “assuming” was the owner. Service was fantastic.

There was a constant flow of take-out orders up until they closed. That says a lot too!

Let me just say, these were the chubbiest rolls I have ever seen so they definitely did NOT skimp on ingredients. Everything was so fresh and the flavors were outstanding.

I honestly do not remember which rolls I ordered but I’m going to say that anything ordered would be fantastic. I can’t wait to go back. My daughter who is a picky eater LOVED everything too!

The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food. Service is great. Highly recommend.

And how about that super cute pineapple boat desert? It was also quite good.

I found another sushi spot to add to your list. This spot isn’t on Instagram so give it some extra love! It’s across the river, but here we are—Volcano and Dynamite rolls doing exactly what their names promise: satisfying my taste buds. Cozy booths perfect for pretending to answer emails while inhaling wasabi. The staff were so nice. They even gave us pineapple after lunch!

This has always been one of my mom’s favorite sushi places, and it continues to be mine no matter where I go! The service is lovely, and the interior is very quaint and friendly even when it’s busier. They pack their sushi pretty full, so I feel like you’re eating more than you do at other places for the same price. The waitress is always incredibly kind, and the service is fast even with there being one chef and one waitress. The food is also delicious! Some special items will take a little longer to come out, but everything is always hot and fresh and so worth it. I love coming here whenever we can!

Holy wow! Cari has been telling me how good this place was. I didn’t believe her. Tried it after 18 months of her harassment. I am a believer! Amazing sushi! Amazing sushi!! Great staff and chill atmosphere. Highly recommend! My new go to sushi spot.

My favorite sushi place. Always great, never disappoints. My favorite is the yummy roll. Tempura Shrimp, imitation crab, cream cheese and sriracha on the inside, tempura crumbs and eel sauce in the outside.

Delicious Food, Quaint Atmosphere—Worth the Visit! ★★★★

I recently dined at Sushi Tatsu and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I ordered three servings of tuna sashimi, which came as 12 pieces of fresh, well-cut tuna. The tuna was cold (but not frozen), full of flavor, and had a great color—definitely 5-star quality. I also had a spicy salmon roll, which tasted fantastic. Though the roll was a bit loosely wrapped, the quality of the salmon was perfect. The miso soup that came with it was flavorful and a nice touch.

Sushi Tatsu is run by an older couple who handle everything themselves, so don’t expect quick service. However, they make up for it with excellent hospitality—my water was refilled promptly, the order was taken quickly, and the service was incredibly kind and attentive.

The only downside is the atmosphere, which I’d give 3 stars. The interior is a bit grungy and outdated, with cardboard in the windows, worn-out chairs, and simple booth seating. However, if you’re someone who appreciates supporting small businesses with fantastic food at a good price, this is the place to go. It’s not about the decor; it’s about quality sushi, and Sushi Tatsu delivers. If I’m back in Illinois, I’ll definitely be stopping by again!

We had to try this place that was recommended by friends. The service and food were great. Husband and wife I believe run the restaurant. Love these kinds of small businesses!

I went here on a Tuesday night to treat myself to a nice dinner alone. I had a little trouble finding it, almost passed it up. They have an OPEN sign lit up but the actual sign on the building with the restaurant name was hard to see in the dark. There is plenty of parking though! There was only one other couple there, but several people came for take out while I ate. It was very quiet, the service was good. They left me alone and didn’t bother me much except to refill my water, check on me a couple times. Which I like to be left alone when I’m eating alone lol. It was the perfect atmosphere to just relax, clear my mind and enjoy my food. The plum wine was yummy, along with my dumplings for an appetizer. Sushi was sooo good. I loved the tempura Philadelphia and dynamite rolls. The red dragon ended up being my least favorite of the four rolls I got. It was still good just didn’t have as much flavor as I wanted. Overall, I would definitely return and 100% recommend
