The good:
I got a buy one, get one free deal through DoorDash. The sub was made with high-quality fresh ingredients and was absolutely delicious. I added the extra charge to have it made on garlic bread and it was the perfect touch. I loved the pickle spear on the side that they serve with it. Taste was 5 stars.
The bad:
The food portion was very small. Not just the length, which is 7 to 8 inches but it’s also thin in width and not piled high with meat and veggies like I’m used to with Subway. The regular price is way too expensive for the amount you receive. (My sub would have been almost $15 on door dash at regular price) If I had not gotten one of the subs for free and had paid full price, I would’ve been very upset at the size of my sub.
Bottom line:
It was very delicious and artisan quality, but is very expensive. If you’re a foodie, don’t mind spending lots of money on quality food, have a small appetite, don’t mind limited options, or don’t like lots of veggies on your subs, absolutely eat here. You’ll leave happy. But if you like lots of fresh veggies, lots of choices of toppings, bread, and sauces, have a bigger appetite, or like good food at a good value, I’d recommend Subway instead.

After waking the household with a sunrise drum jam in Salem (grandson Weston’s first granddad concert!), Hunter and I set out for a well-earned bite and landed at Firehouse Subs – 3810 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR 97302.
Hunter went big with a large steak & cheese (their signature cheesesteak) and loved every bite. I chose the small meatball sub, which was more than enough—bread perfectly crisp, cheese evenly melted, sauce rich and balanced. Delicious, delicious, delicious.
Front and center inside the shop is a January 2025 donation check for $692,530 to Oregon Public Safety Organizations for lifesaving equipment—funded through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. That number isn’t just ink on paper; it’s a powerful reminder of what happens when good food and community generosity work hand-in-hand.
From family drumming to shared sandwiches and a community that literally saves lives, this stop was pure Oregon heart.

I’m a very picky eater, so it was really excellent!!
The subs are average but good, take way to long to make (7 minutes for two and no one ahead of us) and are just average.
The mac n cheese is bland for supposedly having 5 cheeses. You have to put the bread crumbs in, the noodles are done and not mushy but the “cheese” sauce was just blah.
We got the Jamaican jerk turkey and a turkey self design my daughter made up…hers was better, still both just average.
Not worth the wait.
It’s a somewhat decent value for the amount of protein you get in your sandwich, but be prepared to doctor it up at home to make it taste like anything more than boiled meat and bread.
