I went there twice in a week because of the famous escargots. It’s definitely a classic French spot that’s still pretty cozy with a good selection. My observation this trip is that the food quality at dinner is better than at lunch, especially the escargots! The taste, texture, and sauce are distinctively well blended! The French onion soup is amazing in every detail.
Other than the food itself, dinner went really well thanks to Olivier, who has such a great service mind and has been there for over 30 years!

This was my second time at L’Escargot Montorgueil, and it was another wonderful experience. We had booked for 7 PM but arrived late. We called ahead and they let us know the table would need to be free by 9 PM — completely understandable since the restaurant was very crowded. Even with the time constraint, we never felt rushed. The service was friendly and efficient, and we were able to enjoy a really good dinner. The escargots were delicious, the beef was perfectly cooked, and the raw oysters were incredibly fresh, also the frog legs delicious done. I absolutely love them.
Overall, a great meal and a place I’m happy to return to again. Highly recommended!

A truly unforgettable classic French dining experience at L’Escargot Montorgueil.
This place is a Parisian institution, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The escargots were outstanding — perfectly cooked, generous, and swimming in rich garlic-parsley butter. We tried multiple variations, and each one was deeply flavourful and comforting, especially on a cool evening.
The frog legs were another highlight — crispy on the outside, tender inside, and beautifully seasoned. Classic French cooking done right. The steak tartare was fresh, well-balanced, and prepared with confidence, while the pâté en croûte was rich, hearty, and full of character.
Service was attentive and professional without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt warm, elegant, and timeless. You can really feel the history of the place, yet everything is executed at a high standard.
If you’re looking for authentic, old-school French cuisine in Paris, this is a must-visit. One of the best traditional meals I’ve had — highly recommended.

This was my third time in Paris, and I can confidently say this is the best restaurant I’ve discovered so far. The food was absolutely delicious — I was especially impressed to find escargot options with unique flavors beyond the traditional preparation, which is rare and exciting.

The service was top-notch, warm and professional from start to finish. The ambiance is charming and cozy, with a beautiful old-style design that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another time. Even the desserts were exceptional — every bite was a delight.

I left feeling truly enchanted by the whole experience. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable French dining experience in Paris!

A great place to experience classic French cuisine in Paris. The escargot was especially delicious, and the historic atmosphere gives you a real old-Paris feeling. The service was professional and friendly, with no issues communicating in English. Prices are reasonable for Paris standards. Booking in advance is recommended.

The restaurant has a strong sense of French identity and presents itself as a classic French dining establishment. From an overall culinary perspective, several dishes stood out with clear highlights.

The oysters were exceptionally fresh, well selected, and beautifully presented, showing great respect for ingredient quality. The foie gras was another highlight—rich, balanced, and executed with proper technique, reflecting a solid understanding of traditional French cuisine. The steaks are also of a high standard, well cooked, and consistent with what one would expect at this level.

However, not all dishes reached the same benchmark. The escargots, in particular, lacked depth and refinement and did not meet what would generally be considered a world-class culinary standard. In a restaurant that positions itself within classic French gastronomy, this dish should demonstrate greater precision and character.

Overall, the dining experience is positive and worth recommending. While there is room for improvement in certain details, the restaurant successfully delivers a French dining atmosphere with several strong dishes that justify a visit.

This is one of best restaurants in Paris, everything is just scrumptious. The oysters are so fresh and cannot be missed, let alone the escargots, the veal steak and the duck leg confit… even the chicken breast is so tendered and juicy… Don’t forget the crème brulee too. Will definitely visit on our next visit to Paris

Foods are alright, expect more at this place. Compare to many others since this is difficult to book and need credit card guarantee. The lady in front of the door is so moody greeting guests whereas service upstairs is very nice. Place is fantastic, decoration is beautiful. Wine and foods are alright.

L’Escargot is a delightful French spot that delivers big on flavor. The escargot is super yum—rich, buttery, and totally addictive. The French onion soup is deeply savory and comforting, and the sea beam fish is fresh, perfectly cooked, and beautifully balanced. Simple, classic, and done right.
