The chicken satay was good with the peanut sauce and veggies were perfect. The lettuce wrap serving was big, it was well flavored and the lettuce were fresh. The shrimp tacos were on point and was fresh. We ordered different types of rolls: crispy crab, california, spicy tuna and all were excellent. We also had the calamari and it was crispy on the outside and tender inside.
The service here was impeccable and the staff were friendly yet professional. Thanks to Edwin for making our experience special.
So I started walking back the way I came but getting more hungry I figured some other places while I’m here in the mall. Chick-fil-A? Nah, there are many locations I could go to anytime. Same for the others in the food court. Then I began to wonder about Kona Grill. I pulled them up on Google maps and found the rating and photos appealing. I then pulled up the menu and got sold on the first two items I saw and went down the escalator to go dine in for: the avocado egg rolls and the lemon garlic penne! I love anything with avocados, and these have to be the most creatively delicious egg rolls I’ve ever had! Especially with it’s side dipping sauce and little carrot salad garnish. Excellent appetizer! Then the lemon garlic penne for my main course was great! Pasta dishes with tenderly grilled chicken, cherry tomatoes, and in a delicious garlic sauce is my kind of pasta! Would have likely went above and beyond if they could have included artichokes – which I forgot to ask if they had. But again, it was a great dish! This is a great restaurant I have overlooked every time I come to NP. My waitress, her trainee, and the manager were very nice and attentive. There are still more good things here to try, and I will definitely remember to come back and try!
We originally tried one of our favorite sushi spots, but they were fully booked, so we wandered around and landed on Kona Grill. Honestly, I was hesitant at first, it’s inside the mall, and I haven’t had the best experiences with mall restaurants. But wow, were we pleasantly surprised.
From the moment we walked in, the front staff was warm and welcoming. We were seated outside with plenty of space, which was perfect for our family. Then we met our server, Anthony. Let me just say; he’s one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable, even with three little kids in tow.
He smiled and waved at the kids, brought a special rag for our one-year-old who was making a mess (half wet, half dry – genius), and never once made us feel like an inconvenience. He even honored happy hour pricing even though we arrived right at the cutoff. As someone who’s been a server myself, I know how stressful it can be to wait on families with small kids but Anthony was patient, quick, and kept the whole experience positive. If you go, definitely ask for him. He’s a star.
As for the food: excellent. We ordered a variety: sushi rolls, shrimp platter, chicken dish, egg rolls, and the kids got little bento boxes with sushi, mac & cheese, and chicken. Everything tasted fresh and high-quality. Even the kids’ meals felt thoughtfully prepared. We left with plenty of leftovers, and the bill was around $150 (thanks to happy hour), which felt like a steal for the amount and quality of food we got.
The restaurant itself has a great vibe, casual but nice enough for a date night, with prices that feel fair for the quality.
And the cherry on top? After dinner, we walked through the mall courtyard where the kids played on the pumpkin displays and maze. It turned what could have been a stressful anniversary dinner with kids into a night we’ll always remember.
We found a new go-to spot, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Kona Grill and if you can, try to catch Anthony on a Wednesday through Saturday.
We’ve been here multiple times and it’s always amazing.
We came in tonight (Christmas night) hungry after a busy day and just thankful anyone was around to serve us up some yummy food. We got a sushi roll which never disappoints, and a to-go chicken stir fry. The stir fry took forever to come out considering… they sent us home with like half the portion that would have been served on a plate. The taste was an 8 but for $33.. this is kind of crazy how little food we got. We really appreciate everyone in the front being so kind and we were patient/thankful for everyone who served us. But this feedback was necessary to give for the kitchen… Thanks again, Merry Christmas!
