I grew up in Dallas, and went to school with the son of Dickey’s founder (he’s the guy in the white pants in the big photo on the wall as you walk in). Yet I never ate there when I lived in Texas because it didn’t have a particularly stellar reputation among the many barbecue giants. But this franchise operation serves probably the best barbecue you can get in this next of the woods… it’s all a matter of context.
This is Texas barbecue, mind you, so it will be a bit dry instead of soaking in sauce, with the finishing left to you. I think the extra spicy sauce is really good stuff; it’s in a tub in the condiments area. Sides are fine and they have free pickles and soft serve. Plus a great soundtrack of Austin-style country music.
Definitely get the brisket and some fried okra, then expand from there.

Brisket & pulled pork was good.
Baked beans were horrible! If i wanted something spicy, i would of ordered it that way. I threw them out after eating less than one forkful.
I called to voice my displeasure & spoke with John who in my opinion could of addressed the issue better. He threw a fellow employee[ who had left for the day] under the bus, saying that she was the one who made the baked beans, so he didn’t know if anything was wrong with them. I suggested he check out the baked beans himself. That ended our conversation.

I purchased gift certificates for Dickey’s. I stopped in for lunch last Thursday. The doors were locked. I’ve tried calling obviously a hundred others have too as the machine is full. I tried to email the company to complain. I’ve read the reviews and it doesn’t sound very promising. I usually like to try it
for myself as everyone has a bad day. So I called my nieces in Utah to see if they wanted my gift certs. They said “no the food sucks there”. So apparently its the same in every store. The Clifton Park
store didn’t get very good reviews. Now I am stuck with gift cert. that are useless to me. Lesson learned for sure.

Always out of meat and sides. I have been getting free meals because of it. Out of food at noon?? No waffle fries today, no pulled pork last night, till didn’t work the other time. Food is good though.
