The servers are welcoming & attentive. The food options were plenty & there is a buffet as well for brunch. The cherry on the cake is a cute birthday gesture, which put a smile on our faces.
We will definitely be back to this restaurant and will try the others in this hotel as well.
P.S. make sure to reserve as it gets super busy in the summer.
We were celebrating my proposal, and from the service, to the food, along with the atmosphere – it made it all come together and made our romantic night even more memorable. We cannot thank you enough to the staff at the Veranda, and along with Stars – we will be back yearly!
The menu was confusing and hard to fully understand. They have lost the understanding of who they are and who they are serving.
It’s not a 62 degree egg (it’s just poached…. Poorly) and pork belly (brick on the top left of the plate) might have been braised sometime in its life, but not recently. Definitely reheated.
Rest of the food was pretty ok! Nothing boundary pushing.
met. Started with the hostess offering is the worst table in the house, despite a request for a window table when the reservation was made. When I asked about an open table by the window she replied that table is for 4, as was the table she was trying to seat us at. I pointed that out, and became more insistent,
and she quickly relented and sat us by the window. It was odd, in two calls related to the reservation they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We responded we were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. They never acknowledged this in any way during our dining experience.
The food was OK but for a $350 check for 2, including one of their least expensive bottles of wine and tip, one expects more. consistent with other reviews, portions were
minuscule.
Our white wine was served warm and we had to wait for it to chill in the ice bucket. I started with the yellowfin tuna and my wife had the tomato tartare. Both were good albeit small. I had the halibut and my 4-6 oz portion was a tad dry and overcooked. My wife had the Weygu. That was better. Both of our sides were cold. We passed on dessert. Food definitely not consistent with the price point.
Service, besides the hostess, was good Our waiter Alex was professional, attentive and informative. The room and atmosphere was nice and tastefully appointed.
All in all a disappointment especially given the expense. Stars and CBI have a lot of work to do to align the food with their aspirations and this price point.’
To begin with, we had requested a window seat in advance, but were seated in the farthest back corner. It set the tone for what turned into a frustrating night of small but steady service issues. My brother ordered a gin and tonic but was brought a gin martini instead. Both of my parents ordered iced teas, but only one arrived; we had to ask for the second. Our waiter also forgot to take my brother’s entrée order entirely, and he had to call him back to place it.
In one particularly awkward moment, the waiter accidentally kicked my brother’s girlfriend’s phone out of her purse. He did acknowledge it but only by pointing it out, leaving her to pick it up herself. Throughout the evening, he apologized multiple times for being busy and thanked us for our patience. While we understand service can get hectic, we weren’t expecting this level of disorganization from a restaurant with such high-end aspirations.
As for the food, it wasn’t bad, but it also didn’t live up to the price point or the restaurant’s reputation. We ordered the bread service, which was cleared before we’d finished eating it. The lobster bisque, which we shared, was fine—but for the cost, it lacked depth and wow factor. Three of us ordered the halibut and all felt we’ve had better elsewhere. The wagyu dish was the standout of the night, and the desserts were genuinely excellent.
All in all, this felt like a place coasting on its name rather than delivering a true 5-star experience. We left full, but underwhelmed.
