Compact, family-owned restaurant providing traditional Cuban plates in an unpretentious setting.

El Mocho Cuban Restaurant was fantastic from start to finish. We ordered the ropa vieja and the picadillo, both served with black beans and rice and perfectly cooked plantains. Every bite was full of flavor and tasted truly homemade.
We also tried the croqueta sandwich, yuca frita, and a chicken empanada. All were delicious, crispy, and fresh, with generous portions. To top it off, we finished with the homemade flan, which was smooth, creamy, and the perfect ending to the meal.
The service was wonderful and made the experience even better. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend this spot for authentic Cuban food.

Fast, friendly service, and delicious food (the tamales and oxtail special on Fridays are both amazing) for half what you’d pay at the Cuban restaurant near Mallory Square or Duval Street

A popular local spot, some of the patrons seem to be there almost daily. Prices were more than fair, portions adequate, and REALLY good Cuban coffee. A good time, fast, and super friendly.

Reasonable, no frills spot for Cuban fare. The empanada is amazing, it was our favorite of everything we tried. The sandwiches could be panini pressed to be a little better, as the bread texture was just ok, but for the price they can’t be beat. Fried cheese texture and flavor were great, and it was very filling as expected. Their orange juice seems like it’s fresh squeezed and was very refreshing!

We wanted something local before getting to KeyWest, we had the Chicken and Beef empanadas, they were delicious tease homemade, we had the beef and ribs special, it tasted very well, over all great experience the server was very helpful also gave us some recommendations where to go in KeyWest.
Added a little nice touch, they have some art pieces on the wall, not sue if they are local artists but they were pleasant to look at.
Will definitely recommend

We stopped by El Mocho with friends and were blown away by the experience! The service was incredibly fast! Our food arrived in no time. The portions are absolutely insane! I had the grilled chicken breast with yuca and a side salad, and everything was beyond generous. The yuca was perfectly cooked, and the salad was fresh. The staff was so attentive, checking on us multiple times to see if we needed refills, extra sides, or a round of Cuban coffee. They truly made us feel welcome. The prices are great, especially for the quality and quantity of food you get. If you’re looking for an authentic Cuban food to kick off your day in Key West, El Mocho is the spot. We loved it and will definitely be back!
