Their Fried Mushrooms are fresh and handbreaded! They were the perfect side to my BBQ meat trio.
I enjoyed looking at the artwork and small handmade items from local residents. I purchased a beautiful chicken painting and several fabric Christmas ornaments. I will definitely make it a point to stop back when passing through the area.
On Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:00 PM, a party of sixteen, including myself, patronized your establishment. We are familiar with the restaurant, having visited multiple times in the past, and chose it for its convenient location.
Upon entry, we observed that the restaurant was not busy, with only one other table occupied and three employees seated in the dining area conversing. We requested to be seated on the patio to accommodate our large group and enjoy the weather, but were informed that the patio was not yet open for service.
While the staff began arranging tables for us indoors, I was taken aback when a male staff member loudly announced the arrival of our “20-top” (we had since clarified our number was 16) and then made a highly unprofessional and alarming gesture, mimicking shooting himself in the head. Given the light customer load, we were perplexed by this reaction to our patronage.
The service for our table was managed by two separate waitstaff, which led to some confusion and errors. An appetizer order for fried pickles was incorrectly brought out as fried tomatoes. Furthermore, the portion sizes of our appetizers were exceptionally small. An order of “Onion Pedals” contained fewer than eight small pieces. A sampler platter, composed of Fried Mushrooms, Fried Tomatoes, and Cheese Sticks, included only six small mushrooms, four tomato slices, and three cheese sticks, which was very disappointing.
Most concerning, however, was a significant potential health code violation witnessed by my wife, who has extensive experience in the food service industry. She observed the same bearded staff member who had made the earlier gesture eating fries from the kitchen line while simultaneously plating food for customers.
While the food itself was adequate and the servers, despite the mix-ups, were pleasant enough, the combination of unprofessional staff conduct, disorganized service, and serious concerns about food handling and safety has led to this formal complaint. Regrettably, this experience has ensured that we will not be returning to your establishment.
The Smokehouse burger is authentically smoked with real wood and the ribs are rubbed down and then drowned in homemade sauce. Even the pickiest of preteen food critics were subdued with the concoction. The baked potatoes are firm but just right for mixing in your favorite toppings. Obviously the grilled cheese was good, but the scratch made Mac n’ cheese didn’t last long either.
The ‘more country than county’ atmosphere is drenched in 90’s and 2000’s country music, saturated in local arts and crafts and topped off with the charming appeal of antique fixtures. All of this is not the end.
Robert waited on us and did an amazing job. Never too pushy, never hovered and always present when needed, he topped the meal with ‘not so common’ courtesies, less than routine respect and genuine kindness. Recommendations, added service and special requests were never treated like an issue or concern. He easily made the meal as comfortable as a booth at home can be.
The smell of smoky goodness fills the open Floorplan, which makes you want whatever it is they’ve got on the smoker. I got the pulled pork sandwich with Mac & cheese (they were out of coleslaw, bummer for sure BUT ill get it next time !) Mac had good flavor & the pork was delicious !!!!
My husband got the meat trio. He loved all of it, the smoky chicken, pulled pork & the ribs! The BBQ sauce is sweet and sticky, just what you need for pork.
The atmosphere is cool, painting by local artists/photographers that are up for purchase. We’ll be back, it was too cool of a dive not to !
