We loved the chicken gyros, very tasty, absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The menu felt very authentic and truly reminded us of our trip to Jordan. Beautiful location, warm décor, and a welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back! Attached to the restaurant is a gift shop, with nice items including clothes.Plenty of parking, wondered location.

I’m a big fan of Mediterranean. I frequent a few spots in Louisville. Specifically for the chicken. I stopped here this afternoon. Ordered chicken Kabob a la carte with a side of grilled onions. While it was alright, I wasn’t super impressed. Coffee was not…regular coffee. It was a special Turkish kind, $6 a cup, did not taste good at all, to me. Onions weren’t cooked down fully, but I didn’t mind the crunch, and chicken was…very different from any Mediterranean I’ve ever had. A little overcooked as well. Yellow colored (from seasoning). Almost Indian-like? Not sure. It wasn’t bad, just different. I would say this place is neutral for me. The baklava cheesecake and strawberry cheesecake looked absolutely fabulous though. Two ladies next to me were enjoying theirs very much. I do recommend you give this place a try as you may like it. The food was hot and fresh. Portions are large. Service was friendly. Family owned place, quiet little spot.

This is a cool little spot, tucked away near the riverfront in downtown New albany. The gyros were delicious, with lots of meat. The tsaziki sauce is the bomb. Also had Turkish coffee with sugar, very rich and delicious! I’ll definitely be back soon!

This is a family owned and operated restaurant serving up tasty food with pleasant service. I ordered takeout, but, upon entry, wished that I had opted to dine in. It’s such a cute place.
I had the rotisserie gyro which was very good. If you’re new to Mediterranean cuisine, this is a safe choice. There are more adventurous options on the menu, which I will certainly try upon returning.
They have a display of tempting desserts on the counter.
Overall, solid choice for Mediterranean cuisine and I felt like I got my money’s worth.

I visited there recently on January 7th and I was incredibly surprised how amazing their food was. This was my first time eating there. I got a huge Gyro sandwich with rice. I also ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich for my son to go. He also said it was amazing. The lovely lady at the counter was very nice and polite. She suggested the garlic sauce for the rice and it was perfect. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back!

This was my first time at Petras and it did not disappoint. Since moving here from Cleveland, Ohio I’ve craved a good gyro. First, this little family owned business is quaint and cozy in downtown New Albany right off the river. They have a small, comfortable dine in area as well as an outdoor patio w bistro tables. I’d love to go back during the day to sit out there. The service made me feel right at home and welcomed. I went in to pick up my order close to closing time and the gentleman at the counter was just as kind and friendly as you wld anticipate at the beginning of the day. I got the gyro and fry platter, it was so full I could not finish in one sitting. The flavor was exactly what I was looking for! The ratio of meat to toppings was perfect. There is plenty of parking, off street or a parking lot behind the restaurant. Handicap accessible if needed. This is my new favorite local spot.

This restaurant is definitely designed more for takeout than dine-in. The atmosphere was quiet with little distraction. There is a nice outdoor dining area if the weather is nice.
Parking is rough because it’s not actually connected to the restaurant. I was not charged for parking but I am not completely sure I was in a free lot.
The food that we had here was ok. Nothing to right home about in my opinion. Looking at the menu there are probably other things that would have been tasty but the stuff we had was underwhelming. It’s worth a shot if you need a place to eat just off the river.

Petra is a fantastic restaurant for authentic gyros and hummus. Their hummus is the best I’ve ever had. It is whipped making it light and creamy. They use good quality olive oil and the pita’s are fresh. The large gyro is gigantic and the lamb and beef is spiced just right and tender. Bring an appetite if you order the large sandwich.

Family owned business. We’ve been coming here since before they moved locations and changed their name. No gimmicks here, traditional recipes, made well. The best gyros, falafel, and hummus I’ve found near Louisville.
