Thank GOD this place exists. It’s near impossible to get anything other than lobster in Bar Harbor which I understand but I also don’t want to eat lobster for a week straight.
When we walked in, the hostess let us know that they were short staffed but we could be seated. We were very understanding and could see that it was literally just her and one other person serving 3-4 different large seating areas. It was crazy for them but they made it work and got those tables flipped quickly without rushing anyone.
We decided to sit inside the covered patio area because it was cold and it was so cute! The lighting and decor was a great vibe. It didn’t take long for our server to come take our drink order. We ordered a blueberry soda (my very first Maine blueberry item!!!) and a beer. The blueberry soda was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I am so upset that we didn’t order a 6 pack to take back to the AirBnb and I’m still kicking myself. The beer was also really good which I’m sure has to do with the fact that this Mainely Meat location is attached to Atlantic Brewing who also make my soda. It’s a match made in heaven.
For food, I ordered the sausage meal with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered a bowl which usually comes with pulled pork, beans and coleslaw but she subbed the coleslaw for more cornbread. Both of them were reallyyyyyy good. We took home less than half of it just because we were stuffed. The coleslaw was amazingly balanced. It wasn’t sweet and didn’t go too hard on the mayo and the beans were equally incredible. They had chunks of meat in them, only adding to the smokiness.
10/10, we would absolutely be back!!

Food was pretty good. Lots of good BBQ, good ribs, good chicken, good pork Mac and cheese, potato salad. The regulars but I ordered a Bloody Mary and half of the drink. Was tomato paste or should I say it? A smushed tomato could barely drink it. Our server was a 7 at best. She came one time during our whole meal. And I got up to go pay my bill, and she finally met me on the way to the register. And said, I’ll bring your bill out. That’s why I gave a 3 for service. All in all, a pretty good BBQ joint, walked down in Bar Harbor.

The pulled pork and the brisket were incredible. Tender and full of flavor. There was a ton of outside seating and the restaurant was super dog friendly (it even had a dog menu)! I would absolutely recommend stopping here while in Bar Harbor!

Fantastic BBQ with Great Portions and Excellent Drinks! Service was fast and friendly. Price was very reasonable.
We had an amazing experience at Mainely Meat BBQ. We ordered the Brisket Dinner, Max Plate, and an extra pound of brisket. The meat was perfectly smoked—tender, juicy, and packed with great flavor. Both the sweet and hot BBQ sauces were excellent and really complemented the meats.
The sides were equally impressive and well-balanced. We enjoyed baked beans with sausage, creamy coleslaw, and delicious potato salad. The portions were generous, which was perfect for our party of six, including two young men with hearty, meticulous appetites!
For drinks, they offer products from Atlantic Brewing Company, including Blueberry Ale, Real Ale, Brother Adam’s Honey Bragget, House Flight, and a refreshing Strawberry Rhubarb Margarita. They also had a tasty blueberry soda for the minor in our group. Every drink was marvelous—the IPA was especially memorable with its fragrant, sophisticated, and slightly sweet flavor.
Highly recommended for great BBQ, excellent drinks, and satisfying portions! We’ll definitely be back.

I had such a great experience here with my family and friends! The staff was all super friendly and helpful, the food came out really quickly, and I loved the atmosphere. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was the best pulled pork I’ve ever had! I love that they give two different options for your barbeque sauce – sweet or spicy. Even the root beer they had was sooo good! This was my 2nd time here and I will definitely be back again!!!

Stopped in after a day exploring Acadia and had a great experience. I ordered the pulled pork plate with baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Everything was flavorful and hit the spot. The pulled pork was tender and smoky, and all the sides were fresh and well-seasoned. The host and our server were both genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the meal even better. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and craving good BBQ with great service!

We highly recommend the smoked wings – crispy outside, but falling off the bone. The texture of the meat was done very well – fall off the bone ribs, tender brisket – but the only smoke flavor came from the phenomenal red sauce on the table. (There’s also a tangy mustard-based sauce.)
The baked beans were another highlight – sweet, savory and a little spicy. Potato salad and coleslaw were great too. The cornbread was super dry.
There were some great drink options. The blueberry margarita, root beer and blueberry soda were the favorites, and of course, the Atlantic Brewing company beer flight.
We went on a summer weekday for dinner. Not sure if they were understaffed that night, but we waited almost half an hour for someone to take our order.

This spot has been the surprise of the trip. Not only did Maine Meats had great BBQ, but the local Atlantic Brewing Ales and seasonal craft cocktails hit the spot as well. The sampler was more food than I could eat, but everything was smokey, tasty, and had a hint of jalapeno. The winner was the baked beans (my wife may have stolen mine… still working through it). The Cuban hit the spot as well.

This is what Smoke and Steel wishes it could be! Real BBQ, real flavor. The atmosphere is charming. The architecture is made to blend seamlessly within the wooded area. They have great seating options, and the local brewery is on-site, which you can tour. As well as a playground for the kids while you wait, which is perfect. They don’t have a huge cocktail selection, so if you’re like me and not into hipster beer, slim pickings, but that’s fine because the food is good enough to not care. The servers are extremely professional and attentive, even though we ended up with a new server at the end of the night; they still did an excellent job. This place isn’t trying to be something it’s not—just good, simple American BBQ! I am extremely picky and this is always worth it!!!!
