We’ve been coming here since 2014 and it’s always perfect. We had the Hush Puppies, Boudin Balls, Stuffed Salmon New Orleans(the sauce is addictive) and our kid had the Kids Chicken Pasta in Lafeyette Sauce. The owner always greeted us with a smile. He and his staff are always great. The restaurant is always extremely clean. Over the course of 12yrs coming- we’ve never had a bad dish nor a bad experience.
** There was an update to the road outside the restaurant. To get into the parking- easiest is either coming up from 59 on Wilcrest, South towards 59 from Belfort or South on Wilcrest and turning left(east) onto Belfort. The median that was added makes turning from north on Belfort non existent now.

I recently had the most incredible dining experience at Lafayette Restaurant, and I can confidently say it’s a true gem for anyone craving authentic New Orleans Cajun cuisine! Having just moved to the Houston area, I was on the hunt for a place that could satisfy my craving, and Lafayette did not disappoint – in fact, it exceeded all my expectations.

From the moment I walked in, the inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The food, service, and prices were all absolutely excellent. I tried the crabcakes and the crawfish etouffee, and both dishes were incredibly delicious, bursting with fresh flavors and perfectly seasoned. The quality of the seafood and the richness of the sauces were outstanding.

The service was wonderful; the staff were attentive and friendly, making sure every aspect of my meal was enjoyable. I also learned that the owner truly cares about the restaurant and its patrons, which shines through in the overall experience. The homemade lemonade was a delightful touch, too!

This place truly hit the spot for my seafood and Cajun cravings. The portions offer perfect value, and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. Whether you’re looking for a great lunch or a memorable dinner, Lafayette is the place to be. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fantastic dining experience, and I’m already looking forward to coming back soon, perhaps even twice a month!

I came on a recommendation and it was not a disappointment! The food was fresh, the flavor was awesome and the portions were a perfect value. I came for lunch and they had a great lunch menu. The owner was there and working, he was great and really cares. Their lemonade was homemade as well. I have to go back to try more!

02/17/26 – Fat Tuesday!
Well, I’m trying to order food on the Website, it didn’t work and the ugh, you can not read it
I will probably not try again

It had been years since I had been in Lafayette. However I have been hearing good things about it lately. So, I decided to try it out today.
Sunday before the Church crowd.
I ordered a shrimp poboy and a bowl of shrimp gumbo to go.
The shrimp poboy came with french fries, this was not mentioned on the menu. I would have prefer Hush Puppies. $2.00 extra. But that was not offered.
The guy taking my order was kind of like, nonchalant. Not sure if it was his personality or if he just didn’t give a care. Anyway, the shrimp in the poboy were not your normal round fried shrimp, these were long and thin.
And the Gumbo, well although it was to go, no plasticware was given.
So, I haven’t tasted it yet. It is not a thick gumbo, judgement is being held at this point with the Gumbo.

Do you need a happy hour to celebrate a fulfilling work week? Well, I highly recommend Lafayette. Several specialty meal choices will have you dancing before the music kicks in! The service was great and the price is right. This is the place to bring your celebration any day of the week. Start early for the best parking spot!

Ordered pick up. The fried tilapia, fried shrimp and dirty rice were really good. The shrimp gumbo had NO FLAVOR so disappointing. The guy who took the order was really friendly. Parking was a little full. Overall, I’d return.

First time eating here. We sat looking at reviews while we waited, and saw that slow service was a common issue. The waiter is also the owner, and possibly the cook.

We ordered a variety of items, the fried alligator appetizer, the boudin ball appetizer, the catfish and etouffee lunch special (with a redbeans & rice sub), the shrimp and oyster plate & a side of garlic bread.

The alligator came out first. The flavor was great (probably the highlight of the meal) but the batter was soft and mushy peeling off the meat inside, which was disappointing.

Next was the boudin balls. The batter on these was a little crispier than the alligator, but the boudin filling was just decent. It lacked some spices and the texture was a bit more mushy than I care for. The best ones I’ve ever had fall somewhere just in the middle. I’ve eaten at a few places on what Louisiana calls “the boudin trail” a tour guide of the best ranked boudin restaurants in Louisiana.

Then our main entrees arrived. The catfish had decent flavor, the majority of it was of a thickness that it wasnt dry or chewy. It had a little bit of a fishy flavor, but wasnt bad. The etouffee was probably my 2nd favorite item. It was mushy however, due to what seemed to be crushed rice as a thickener rather than flour and cream. It was similar to a thick rice soup. The flavor however was really good, had some spice, wasnt fishy at all and was filling, an order of this on a cold rainy day would hit the spot.. I gave my friend some and they agreed it was one of the better items.

My friend was most impressed by the alligator as well, but said it was amazing when put on top of the garlic toast like a po-boy.

The last glitch in the visit came at checkout. I noticed my total was nearly the same as my friends, yet he had ordered a more expensive meal & appetizer. I went back inside, the owner re-added everything twice and refunded me the difference of about $6.

While it was one of the more expensive meals of our trip, and overall the food wasnt bad, it fell a bit short of what I had hoped for. Not sure I would make this a destination in the future, but if I was in the area again, I would consider going back.

C for effort. It was our first time here and when we walked in, we wasn’t greeted or even acknowledged. When we seated ourselves we waited almost ten minutes before my guy friend got up to get menus. Once we finally ordered it took over 20 min for the onion rings and oysters. Onion rings were too too salty. For the entrée fish had no seasoning and the lobster & shrimp pasta was like a great value Pappaduex. This was a meal and service I definitely did NOT enjoy.

Food was decent, but definitely not Cajun/Creole. I got the Lafayette pasta with chicken. Chicken wasn’t well seasoned. Boudin balls were better then the actual main course. Service was above average.
