Don’t be fooled by the name, it is nothing like the other restaurants! Food is decent but that is all… our waitress did the absolute bare minimum that she was supposed to, she was to worried about talking to her friends than actually doing her job. Then they shorted us money and it took them 10 minutes to come back and then gave us too much money, which I just left on the table . I mean it’s simple math and they had a calculator…. I will not be going back there.

The white cheese they rave about always tastes slightly on the rancid side to me. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff but the food is so-so. If it weren’t for Batman there’d be no point in going here (local humor).
BTW, there’s this weird painting of an Inca (maybe Mayan?) warrior with a stone hammer standing over a very, very white chick in a nightgown — Not sure what that’s about.

Worst El Sombrero location EVER!! Lousy service, average food. The guy that sat us at our table, basically threw the menus on the table. He told us we had to sit outside because he didn’t have room for us inside. So RUDE!!

Restaurant was fairly nice with mostly booths and a few tables. There is also a bar area.
The food was fairly tasty but not spectacular. At the prices they are asking I cannot suggest this place however. The food was just too expensive for what it is.
It was slightly better than average so if they dropped their prices itd be worth it. Otherwise I suggest a pass.

I have been to the Longview, Kilgore and this location of El Som, and this is by far my favorite. The service is much faster than Longview, the food is the exact freaking same at all three.
The one star reviews left here are silly and personal, this El Som is just as good, if not better than the others.

I was expecting more from this place considering the parking lot is always full. The queso is gross, velveeta or canned nacho cheese quality dip. The enchilada sauce also tastes like cheap canned sauce. I have eaten the enchiladas, chicken quesadillas, and the beef fajitas. All were gross. If you like mexican food that is made from real ingredients drive to longview. If you must eat Mexican in Hallsville I would suggest Marisol’s. Although its not the best, it is far better than el Sombrero. Maybe it’s popular because they have a bar? I’d have to be drunk to think this food is good.
