Honestly I don’t know how this place does not have a solid 5.0 rating. It is the ONLY Chinese restaurant I will eat at because the quality of the meat, vegetables, and sauces are always top notch. It has easily become my families go to spot when we want to eat out. It is worth noting the entire staff is always so friendly. I have never had an off or bad meal here.

This is my first time coming to CT, I’m from Los Angeles and my friend brought me to this restaurant. I ordered beef and broccoli and it was delicious. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The staff was so helpful and courteous. Thank you for providing me it’s such a wonderful meal while I was visiting the West Hartford area.

Black Bamboo Chinese Restaurant serves the most delicious food west of Xi’an, and every dish is packed with flavor. My favorites are the General Tso’s chicken and the Mongolian chicken with rice, and even the chicken noodle soup restores the soul—better than your mom’s soup…sorry, not sorry. Sonny and his team always create a great experience whether you’re dining in or ordering take-out.

Just fantastic restaurant/ people!!
Been a customer of Black Bamboo, Sonny and his family business from the early days at Kingswood Plaza location in WHtfd.
Admirably, the restaurant has stayed true to its roots – high end, take out- and has enjoyed well deserved success. It has moved to a larger space at 766 Farmington Ave. so, if you want to gobble down your meal on site, you can. However, it remains true to its mission which is to provide the best Chinese meals, on a take out basis, in the Hartford area.
Ordered out tonight for me and my wife. Couldn’t have been more happy. So good!
“Just saying”

Delicious vegan options—I had the bbq ribs and tofu with broccoli. The broccoli was fresh and not mushy and the sauces were so good! I dined in and the only downside is that there are so many delivery service folks coming in and out that the dining area was pretty cold.

I’ve been coming to Black Bamboo for years and the food and service has always been top notch. Sonny and his team are amazing. I’ve used them for a number of catering events and everytime he delivers quality food and service. My staff loved the food. If you’re vegan- the vegan ribs are so delicious and I’m not even vegan but I’ll order them everytime!

As a vegan couple, we find options challenging locally … BUT NOT HERE! Black Bamboo has a lot of vegan options. We ordered the Black Bamsizzle, Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan Chicken, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce (all vegan). The staff was knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. The atmosphere was clean and very nice. I highly recommend Black Bamboo. Run, don’t walk!

Over priced and disgusting. Pictures of their gray hot and sour soup. Noodles..like no one would notice. Topped with old tofu and undeveloped mushrooms. No bamboo shoots at all. You should really be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Paid 15$ for a mushy kung Pao chicken combo with rice. The size for the price was ridiculously small, not only that but it was gross. I hate to say it but the chicken had a strange flavor and the rice was hard ? Like it had a literal BITE to it. Overall just not good. The restaurant is extremely small so if you want to eat there, know you’ll be directly next to whoever is at the next table rubbing elbows with them unless you sit at the window seat. The girl at the front desk was super sweet but this was 2/10 experience fr.

The food was delicious and fresh. There were young people working, and they were attentive and corteous. I will definitely go back! I gave them four starts because the place is too small, and the dumplings of the Wonton soup were not tender.
