Walk into Kaya Garden and you’ll know right away: this isn’t just another Korean spot. It’s the kind of place where soy-marinated raw crab (ganjang-gejang) steals the show — briny, meaty, and so good you’ll be plotting your next visit before you’ve finished the first bite.
The menu reads like a love letter to tradition. Ssambap sets piled high with fresh greens, bubbling soybean paste stew, soft steamed egg, and rice that’s just right. Every dish feels generous, like the kitchen wants you to leave full, happy, and already loyal.
And here’s the kicker: Kaya Garden has been serving the community for over 25 years, perfecting recipes passed down through generations. That’s why the food tastes like home — even if you didn’t grow up in Korea.
✨ Why Kaya Garden hooks you:
Signature soy-marinated crab — bold, unforgettable, and worth the hype
Ssambap jeongsik — leafy wraps, spicy pork, and sides that keep coming
Friendly, family-run vibe — you feel cared for, even when it’s busy
Decades of tradition — flavors honed over time, not trends
This isn’t “just dinner.” It’s an experience you’ll crave again and again. Kaya Garden doesn’t try to be flashy — it just delivers food that makes you sit back, smile, and say, this is it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For anyone in Leonia (or driving through Bergen County), Kaya Garden is the stop you’ll brag about later.

Food is good. Service is horrible. The lady/owner has a terrible attitude overall. Its a shame in such a small community a good restaurant with authentic korean food treats customers this way. Even the table next to me said the same thing. Learn how to greet and smile to customers!l shame shame.

I like this Korean restaurant very much. The boss and most of the staff are very friendly. It is very suitable for family and friends to gather together. I think its side dishes and main meals are delicious. I like its dishes and portions very much, so I often visit this restaurant.

The soy-marinated crab has a flavor very close to that of authentic Korean cuisine. It’s not overly intense, and when paired with fish roe rice, it’s absolutely delicious.

Unfortunately I don’t think the people that work at this place understands English. First the order was missed then we asked and the wrong order came(we asked for beef hot stone pot). Soy raw crab was good. Other two dishes (seafood tofu and squid hot stoke pot) were way too spicy for my level and the menu didn’t indicate any spicy level.

I’ve been visiting this restaurant for over 10 years, and I continue to be very satisfied with the food. The dishes are consistently flavorful, and ssambap remains one of my favorites. However, every time I come, I can’t help but have the same thought.
As a regular customer who dines here more than twice a month, I would expect at least a warm greeting. Yet, none of the staff acknowledge me with a smile when I walk in. The only person who consistently shows kindness is a Spanish staff member who handles the dishes—his warm smile is the one bright spot in the service.
When I order ssambap, there are times when the lettuce provided isn’t enough. But I hesitate to ask for more because the waitress often respond with angry face. It’s uncomfortable to make even a simple request.
I keep coming back because the food is excellent, but the lack of hospitality makes me question whether I should. I wonder if the staff are even aware of how their behavior affects the customer experience.

My family shared the combo with soy marinated crab, soy marinated shrimp, and albap. The combo came with an assortment of of banchan and a doenjang stew for each of us. Everything was excellent and the marinated crab was the best I’ve ever had Service was also warm and attentive. Can’t wait to be back!

If you don’t mind about bad service, you can go and get one of the best authentic Korean food I would say. This makes me sad to give this place 3 stars but I have to warn people before coming to this place that if you’re not speaking Korean you’ll be treated differently. I’ve been here couple times and the food always super good and the service was so so, but this time the service left me with a terrible experience everyone forgot to put smile on their faces and can you imagine when the restaurant close at 10.00 pm. and I was going to order more food at 9.10 pm they told me that the kitchen closed already with attitude and they do last call at 9.00 pm which is 1 hour before closing time??? What? I don’t mind what time the last call is but I do mind when no one does the last call at my table and this was bad. That’s why I’m giving this place 3 stars and I don’t think I’ll coming back again.
