Reviews
As it’s a novelty and I enjoy Mexican foods, along with buffets, I thought this would be great.
3 points for major improvements, though.
#1: Food
Super dry, super bland, over or under seasoned, mushy, etc. Basically, all the dishes that were supposed to have certain flavors and textures had the opposite of what they should have. Fajitas should be hot, have a slight chew to them, and somewhat seasoned. Instead, they shoveled out dry beef jerky, doused in msg, and slop.
Their enchiladas were like middle school lunch; food of the day? “Mexican surprise”.
The chicken tinga should’ve evened it out, but it was inedible, and gross.
Their “dessert” section is purple Kool-aid jello and super cheap and gross cookies.
Literally, the only food I enjoyed were the chips.
#2: The service
The service could have been better. The ladies were relatively nice, but it was apparent that they didn’t want to be there, and seemed tiresome in helping you.
Additionally, at the end of the tab, they add in their own tip to the final bill. Usually, people don’t read their receipts well enough, and just assume the final price, but the restaurant adds its own tip.
What should be a 11.99 meal, turned into a 16.99 meal without even my own volunteered tip.
Sketchy tactics, especially for a restaurant with low quality food and service.
#3: The Atmosphere
The atmosphere was decent. It’s a generic Latin style interior with traditional green, red, white colors mixing, and Latin music playing.
I really wanted to like this place, because I love true Mexican food and buffets.
However, they clearly don’t care about food quality, and could care less about patrons.
Change their approach and it would be a smashing success.
I was happy to see this was not a HOT plate Mexican food place.
All the food was fresh and delicious. The portions were also very good.
The dish I had was very good with the ratios perfect. The meat consisted of Chicken, Steak, and Chorizo Sausage mixed with veggies. The meat to veggie ratio was perfect as to not let the bitterness of the green peppers to overpower the flavors. The meats were perfectly cooked and not dry.
The chips and salsa were also very good. The chips tasted very fresh and house made. The salsa as well was very well balanced in flavor and tasted house made as well.
I had the Enchilada and it was just perfect. It also tasted fresh and had a very good sauce that covered it. The sauce was not typical of the red sauce you usually find and with very well seasoned beef it was actually one of the best and unique enchiladas I have ever had.
The re fried beans were average in flavor and I would like to have seen a bit of smokey flavor in them to come up to par with the rest of the dish. They were still good none the less.
The tortillas were very fresh and tasted homemade as well.
The menu was extensive and had things on it not typical in most places like this.
The place was clean and the staff members were very friendly and helpful with all of my questions and service.
The prices were on average or below considering the quality of food and service received.
This is a place I would return to often and definitely worth checking out.
As a first-timer our server was not all that helpful and seemed fairly confused himself on menu items, meats, etc. Other than that, service was kind, friendly and as pleasant as could be.
