A Cozy Mountain Escape at The Spruce Saddle Lodge
If you’re looking for a quintessentially rustic mountain experience at Beaver Creek, the Spruce Saddle Lodge is an iconic stop that perfectly balances convenience with high-alpine charm. Located at the top of the Centennial Express Lift, it serves as the literal and figurative heart of the mountain.
The Atmosphere
The first thing you notice upon entering is the impressive timber-frame architecture. With its massive vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, the lodge captures the grandeur of the Rockies. Even when the lunch rush is at its peak, the space feels airy and bright. On a sunny day, the outdoor deck is the place to be; the views of the surrounding peaks are nothing short of spectacular, making it one of the best spots for people-watching and soaking in the Colorado sun.
Dining & Service
While mountain lodges are often synonymous with overpriced burgers, Spruce Saddle elevates the “cafeteria” experience. You’ll find the standard fare, but the specialty stations—ranging from hearty bison chili to fresh, customizable salads—provide a much-needed break from greasy slope-side food. The efficiency of the staff is impressive; even during the busy holiday weeks, the lines move remarkably fast, and the seating areas are kept clean.
Why It Stands Out
What truly sets Spruce Saddle apart is its location. Being mid-mountain makes it the ultimate meeting spot for groups with varying skill levels. It’s a warm refuge for those taking a break from the wind, and a convenient pit stop for those who want to get back to the corduroy as quickly as possible.
Final Verdict: It’s more than just a place to eat; it’s a landmark of the Beaver Creek experience. Whether you’re there for a quick espresso or a long, leisurely lunch on the deck, it provides a sense of “mountain luxury” that feels accessible and welcoming.

There’s no prices on the cocktail menu. The bartender automatically charges 20% for the tip, then doesn’t give a receipt or tell me I’m closed out. I had to ask. I guess most people here don’t care how much things cost, but it would have been nice for a heads up on how much my $28 drink was going to cost before I checked my credit card statement.

Beautiful mountain top location, limited food options during the late Summer- we were here in August, but still great burger and chicken options.

Well the views are fantastic.
Ambience incredible. However for as good as the smoker smells outside the food underwhelms. Almost no smoke flavor in the pork it’s almost like they did it in an oven and then the smoker for like 3-5 minutes. Also you’re going to spend at least $15 more per person than what the vouchers allow for. I get it eating at the top of a mountain is cool. Maybe pack a nice lunch or something save some money and it might taste better.

Very friendly service and good food just very pricy, esp if you don’t have the 20% off from an epic pass

$35 for two afternoon beers is steep. The mountain beer is now wildly more expensive than the concert beer, airport beer, and ballpark beer.

5 stars for the Cholula dispenser. Also the food is really tasty and prices are fair for on mountain dining. I recomend the potatoes and chili, it was really surprisingly good chili and the baked potatoes seemed enormous (maybe it was the altitude affecting me?). I saw one value concious customer fill the entire bowl with chili then gently place his potato on top. He definitely got his money’s worth and did not leave hungry. I also tried the pho and was less impressed because of the creative noodle choices employed. I guess if you stick to the basics you will be happier with your meal.

I recently visited Spruce Creek Lodge, and unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The food was mediocre at best—definitely not worth the high prices they charge. Speaking of prices, everything is way overpriced, but they get away with it because it’s the only option on the mountain. It feels like they’re taking advantage of visitors with no other choices. If you can, bring your own food or find somewhere else to eat before heading up. It’s definitely not worth the money.

Side note, a soft drink costs 4+, and they want to charge you the same price for a refill..
