This was my first time here, and the food was very good! I had the apple pie french toast special and scrambled eggs with tomato and spinach. They tasted amazing. The ambience was cute and clean, the food came out quickly, and the prices were very reasonable. The servers weren’t the friendliest but they were efficient. The place got busy around 10, so prepare for that. My friend had pancakes which were so so she said. I would definitely come back.

Our new “go to” for brunch. Wonderful staff, great food and excellent coffee. The dining experience is more restaurant than diner but at a very reasonable price point!

I went for the first time recently so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We dined inside for breakfast. I thought the inside was so cute. I ordered one of their specials and I was honestly impressed by the food. My sister got a pancake with a side of bacon and she said both were very good. They also have seating outside, which is nice. This spot has a parking lot, which is a plus for downtown Old Saybrook. Additionally, you can order to go as well, which is great if you’re just looking to get a drink.

My husband and I discovered the Paperback Cafe years ago and now when we visit Old Saybrook, CT it is always our first stop. The pistachio lattes are the best we’ve had. When you open the door to their restaurant, you instantly feel the warmth and welcoming atmosphere from their friendly staff. The Long Island Sound map and shelves filled with Katherine Hepburn books, plants and beach vibes give a wonderfully cozy vibe to their restaurant. Make sure to try their one of a kind PBC grilled cheese, so fresh & delicious!! Honestly, everything we’ve had there from breakfast to lunch is fantastic

A pleasant little eatery on the main strip that serves breakfast all day, with outdoor seating. The Paperback Club & the Cranberry Orchard wrap are awesome / very good choices! There’s many vegetarian options too and lots on the menu for breakfast & lunch to choose from. Parking can be difficult at lunch hour, but you can park further out or on the street if you can find a spot.

We absolutely LOVE PBC!! My favorite is breakfast, our teenagers love lunch with their friends. Our younger kids love the kids menu. The catering is amazing and delicious. The little sign in the bathroom cracked me up the other day. Thinking of printing them for my home so my family remembers to turn the light off!!
Lastly, the owner is so kind and generous. We love supporting local over anything else. If you haven’t been – you must go!! I suggest the french toast!!

I went for lunch yesterday, and the restaurant is cozy and the waitstaff was pleasant. We had good service.
The issue was while I was eating, I pulled a long black hair out of my food. Then while I was checking the rest of my food, I found a few more hairs! It was totally disgusting and ruined my appetite for the rest of the day. Yuk. Doesn’t the cook wear a hair net? Hygiene needs to be checked in this restaurant.

Over the weekend we went “The Paperback Cafe” in Old Saybrook, CT. There was lots of parking outside. Lots of outside seating with shades. Indoors lots of tables, the restrooms are unisex and clean. If you pay in cash you receive 4% discount! They’re open from 7am to 3pm everyday. We were the last table to sit in. The staff were very attentive. Lots of vegetarian options, I had the chicka boom burger – chickpeas & homemade potato fries (like wedges). Unfortunately I didn’t have the heart to tell them my food was lukewarm. I was so hungry I ate it. My other half’s dish looked delicious (it was a special) from the blue menu and it was hot (like heated) as it should be. Delicious hot caramel latte and iced hot chai. I must remember they have one way in, and one way out (exit)! Definitely will come again!

I was served by Anna after a mistake on a drink, even though there were multiple employees which addressed me, she assessed the situation and made it 20 times better. Thank you for making my experience better, it means alot, especially when. People are going through things.
