Angry Egg

This is a very small restaurant with quite a few rules to follow, but don’t let that stop you! I visited several months ago while traveling for work, and since I’m always on the hunt for a hot breakfast with good service, this spot stood out. The service was great, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Breakfast Sammie, which was delicious! I also love that it’s a small, family-owned business—definitely worth supporting. A must-try if you’re in the area!

Nice and homey. Busy little restaurant, not annoyingly busy, but they’ve got lots of regulars. I had a seat of a few at the counter. Clean, nice decor, it looks great. I got two over easy hash browns and toast with a side of the Angry Hash. It was packed with meat, ham, bacon, kielbasa, and maybe more. Soft potatoes and a great serving side. Everything about my visit was great.

Very welcoming atmosphere, great service, excellent food. From simple eggs to fancy waffles, everything was perfect. We altered travel plans to go here based on the cute name and were so glad.

I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with two others to enjoy their specials they had for Valentine’s day. We got there for 10am and only had to wait a few minutes outside before getting seated. The waitress was very friendly and came to take our order quickly. The prices for things are reasonable and good sized portions. Their home fries are particularly good and have a good amount of seasoning! Their southwest omelette was good, needed some salt, but had lots of toppings. Overall I’d recommend a stop in.

Overall I give it a 3 out of 5. The service was prompt but nothing special. The atmosphere wasn’t anything special either. The food was good. The pancakes were ok. The eggs however were delicious as well as the bacon. I probably wouldn’t go again but it wasn’t a bad experience. I just wasn’t really impressed with the food.

We really like this place… love sitting outside with the old town vibe (they need new chairs). The service is great and friendly. They had a sign saying they’re short on staff, but the food came out quickly. My wife LOVED her avocado toast and my omelet was great, I recommend the angry hash upgrade!

Overview: The Angry Egg is a complete hit or miss in all areas, but if you need food that’s leagues better than any fast food nearby, this is your place. The value you get for what you pay can’t really be beat. Note: I’ve been here at least 5 times now, so this isn’t a hasty decision.

Food:
– I’ve had a large portion of the breakfast menu at this point and the majority of it is pretty good.
– All of the wraps I can highly recommend, packed with flavor and will definitely fill you.
– Be careful when ordering something with a side of seasonal fruit, it’s a complete mixed bag; one time you may get a bunch of mixed fruits with even proportion amounts which is great, other times you’ll get a full cup of honeydew and a grape, or a semi-mushy pile of fruit.
– The ‘I’m Hangry’ is a massive meal and can definitely feed 2!
– The pancakes are huge, so beware and be hungry!
– The omelets are also huge, and can’t go too wrong if you want a filling breakfast, 1 omelet meal could feed 2 as well.
– Every time I’ve ordered something here there was something that was off. Whether the tater tots were fridge cold, my wrap being sopping wet (egg white veggie wrap), or getting seasonal fruit that is a solid piece of honey dew, mushy, and the list goes on… there hasn’t been a single time I’ve ordered that something ruined the meal.
– If French Toast was on your mind, I would recommend something else (unless it was a miss the time we got them).

Drinks:
– Only had hot chocolate, and water. The hot chocolate is good :)!

Service:
– Not sure how to address this, but as a theme of the review, it’s a complete hit or miss.
– When you walk in you’ll either be able to sit down immediately or have to write your name to wait.
– You may or may not have the waitress serving you bring you more water or bother to ask how the food is.
– When waiting it may be anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 minutes and you may be skipped!
– I once had an awful experience where we were told the wait was 15-20 minutes, so we wait…and we wait.. and we wait. We walk in almost an hour after we were to get the call and get told they called us but nobody picked up so they crossed us off the list. I asked what number they called and it was clearly mine and inform the waitress/hostess that I never got a call. She said I just simply didn’t pick up. I showed her my phone call history, including spam and it was empty, no call. She again insisted I didn’t pick up when they called (hint hint, there was no call made). Eventually the manager, I’m assuming, promised us a table ASAP, and personally waited us.

Great breakfast/lunch spot! Friendly staff. We ate outside, pandemic and all, but the inside (on the way to the bathroom) looks adorable! Don’t know what makes their egg angry, because everything about our meal made us happy! We had a short stack of pancakes, ask for the maple butter, and an angry egg wrap. The angry hash is an amazing combination of goodies!

I stopped in for breakfast. It’s a small little spot. The service was very good and fast, the food was decent. It’s breakfast, so it’s hard to go wrong, a lot of choices, also they serve turkey bacon for the non pork eaters like myself, we know how hard it is to find a breakfast spot in CT that offers turkey instead of pork everything.

This is a great, hole in the wall breakfast/lunch spot. Found it while passing through the area on the way to boston. It is a bit out of the way but definitely worth the little bit of a detour
Nice menu with a number of unusual items. I had the nore’easter omelet and my wife had the teramasu French toast. Both were great. Service is great. It is small and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Highly recommended.
