Ended the meal with rich, soft serve ice cream dipped in chocolate and the other in butterscotch! The staff was kind and very attentive as they were checking on customers throughout the night to ensure top-quality service.
Lamon’s is a must-go and we can’t wait to come back and try more menu items!
Since it was our first time, we ordered 2 tender meals and a veggie platter so we could have a little bit of “everything,” togo. I’ll start off by saying the chicken is amazing! Taste and seasoning. Perfectly cooked! The baked beans were also great. The deviled eggs are alright. A little too vinegary without much other flavor but not bad!
Now for the other sides… wow. The coleslaw was inedible. I don’t know what is put in it but it tasted like straight vinegar mixed with a hint of some sort of Italian dressing. It was honestly inedible. All three of us tasted it and threw it away. We also threw away our side of mashed potatoes. It wasn’t because of the texture because I understand they make them differently, but it was because of the taste. They tasted like someone poured a TON of chicken flavoring in it or something? Not sure how to describe it but it was terrible. We also threw away the cornbread we each got because it was so dry and crumbly, it was hard to swallow, lol. It, too, had a weird flavor that I can’t explain. My daughter tried to break it in 3 pieces and the photo is what occurred. It was like a crumb explosion. The macaroni was alright. It was pretty dang dry but edible. Nothing special. My daughter’s fries looked and tasted like they were sitting at the bottom of a lukewarm grease catching bowl, lol. So greasy, limp, and almost looked and felt like they weren’t cooked all of the way. We threw them away, also. My kid literally wouldn’t eat them. I LOVE homemade ranch but it had WAY too much liquid in it, making it the consistency of literal water. The flavor was still good, though.
I say all of this to say that we paid $75 for some chicken tenders (10 tenders), baked beans (1 small cup), macaroni (3 half filled small cups), and deviled eggs (3 halves of eggs), after throwing away a mushy/half-cooked serving of fries, a half filled small cup of the worst coleslaw I’ve ever had, a filled to the small brim of terrible mashed potatoes, and 2 literal corn meal squares of cornbread. Again, we aren’t picky eaters, but wow. I’ve never eaten anywhere and thrown away entire portions of almost every side item purchased. Not just because I didn’t care for it but all 3 people couldn’t even try to eat them. I hope it gets better and I say all of this mainly for owner’s awareness in hopes things will improve! We need more small businesses that thrive in T-Town. I’d go back for the tenders, but just that!
Chicken tenders were great and soooo seasoned! Too spicy for me but it was my fault for getting too high of a spice level. The cornbread was legitimately some of the best cornbread I have ever had! The Mac and cheese was very good as well. Recommended this place to all my friends and keep trying to go back if I can catch their open hours. Wanna support the local businesses here!
First, the food was awful. The chicken was fried soft (not crispy at all), the mashed potatoes were pure mush like baby food with zero seasoning, and the macaroni was extremely dry. For the prices they charge, the quality and portions were unacceptable.
But even worse than the food was the service. As an African American customer, I couldn’t help but notice that multiple tables of Caucasian guests were checked on repeatedly to make sure they were doing okay, yet no one addressed me until I took a picture of the mashed potatoes. When the manager finally came over, instead of trying to fix the issue, all they said was, “Oh, they are not for you.” No apology. No attempt to make it right.
This experience left me feeling both disrespected and discriminated against. Between the bland, poorly prepared food and the dismissive (and frankly, discriminatory) service, I cannot recommend this place. Save your money and time — if you want good food with flavor and respectful service, go somewhere else.
The ice cream is also the creamiest soft serve I’ve ever had. I just finished my meal and I already can’t wait to come back!
Every table was checked on multiple times. The staff were frequently making their rounds and even the owner was personally checking on people. It was a great experience!
