Visiting from out of town, Nathanial was awesome and attentive. Atmosphere was great for the off season morning. The interior of the restaurant is very beautiful, great for any occasion. The food was excellent! I got the mushroom omelette with sour dough. No additional seasoning needed. What a treat. ❤️

Last Friday night, my husband and I had dinner at the Emporium for the first time. We had reservations and arrived on time, watching the hostess turn away a family of four who didn’t. We were seated at a small table for two and waited quite a while before anyone greeted us—longer still for the drinks we ordered. Oddly, our appetizer of Brussels sprouts arrived before the drinks did. The dish itself was delicious, but we noticed the table across from us had the same item, and their portion was noticeably smaller. A sign of kitchen inconsistency, perhaps.

For my entrée, I ordered the pea risotto. It was bland and underwhelming—especially for $28. The portion was so small I was hungry after I ate it all – to order a protein was a $14 upcharge.. My husband had the shrimp and grits, which featured large shrimp and a flavorful sauce, but the carrots were undercooked. Again, the kitchen’s inconsistency was evident: the man at the table across from us had the same dish, but his serving wasn’t swimming in sauce like my husband’s.

Dessert was the entremet—a dense overly sweet dark chocolate with toffee ice cream. It lacked nuance and felt like a one-note sugar bomb.

But what stood out most—more than the uneven food—was the service. The couple at the table across from us had the same waitress, yet their experience was markedly different. Their glasses were refilled promptly, empty plates cleared without delay, and even their wobbly table was adjusted by the manager. Meanwhile, our plates sat untouched until we stacked them ourselves to make room. When we were ready to leave, our waitress disappeared for so long we considered tabbing out at the bar to avoid being late for our next reservation.

We couldn’t help but notice the stark contrast in treatment. Why they received VIP service and we didn’t remains unclear, but it left a sour taste. Add to that the deafening noise level—we had to raise our voices just to hear each other—and the evening felt more exhausting than enjoyable.

In short: overpriced, small portions, loud, and discriminating service based on who knows what. Not an experience we will choose to repeat.

Came into town to celebrate Valentine’s day. Did the pre-made valentines dinner menu. The service was friendly but clearly spread extremely thin. Our server was always rushed as if barely managing to keep up. Little time for questions or individual attention to our table. I don’t hold it against her, as I suspect the place was simply under-staffed. The food was tasty but very small portioned (I ate a satay from a street vendor later in the evening, and I write this as I woke up hungry early in the morning). Our reservation was at 9pm, so it isnt as if the meal was a long time ago. The most frustrating aspect, though, was that each course seemed to take forever to arrive. There is having time for conversation and then there is trying to stave off hunger for 90 minutes before any significant portion of your meal is served. They also ran out of all but the least popular soup and salad option. I would be more understanding if we weren’t essentially ordering the special. You know it is valentines day, you know how many reservations you have. You should be able to plan for the pre-made menu, and to staff up sufficiently. This was a $200+ price point, and by the time we left after a solid 2 hrs sitting down making the best of it, we were happy to walk out the door, no longer hostage to the snail pace of the kitchen and breathless drive bys of the service.

I feel bad leaving a negative review, as any restaurant can have a bad night, but I feel it’s important to share this real experience that I and others had with The Emporium last night. My girlfriend and I arrived at 9 PM for our Valentine’s Day reservation. About 10 other parties were standing waiting to be sat. Some large tables were double sat with couples awkwardly sharing space. It was clear they were behind on their evening service, but these things happen. We decided to stay and were seated about 20 minutes after our reservation in a back spill over room, in the adjacent HOTEL. They had the place set up as best they could, but it was literally a hotel conference room, very different from the quaint romantic vibe of the main room. Laughing at the absurdity of the situation we decided to stay, until over one hour later we had still only received our drinks despite multiple assurances from our waiter that food was on the way. Several other couples around us started chatting and sharing how long they had been waiting. One couple had been there almost 2 hours with no food. We paid for our drinks and left. Would not come back. Oh and they wanted $300 for this experience.

I had the pleasure of stopping in for dinner at The Emporium tonight before an Armory show. It has been a while since I’ve stopped in as I understand that wine bottle sales have been slow for you. But I always enjoy coming here to entertain my wine friends whenever we are downtown together.

Tonight, my friends and I enjoyed a delicious cheese and meat board paired up with the Tornatore Etna Rosso we selected from the wine market. Kudos to the wine rep that sold that wine in!

I sincerely wish that more guests of The Elizabeth Hotel and The Emporium utilized the service of picking out world-class wines from small, independent wine suppliers like the ones I represent. One bottle at a time. Not found in grocery. Non-commercial.

Now with humility and decorum:

I would like to recognize Sadie for her delightful ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ service of us in her section. I can’t recall the last time I have had such distinguished wine service. It was perfectly timed and effortless!

From the moment we sat down until the time we rushed off, Sadie’s warm and energetic demeanor made my friends and I feel special, included, relaxed and at home.

I was feeling a little far removed from The Emporium this past year since Sarah O’Neil left (now at Maida Trattoria). But I hope to be invited in on more collaborations soon. I’m a big fan of The Emporium and I want to be a conduit of your success. Cheers

We come to the emporium for date nights and this is our 2nd year coming for Valentine’s Day, food is always delicious but unfortunately the service this time was horrible. We arrived at the emporium at 6:05 and didn’t leave until 8:00p. We saw our waitress maybe twice? The manager checked on the tables around us but not once checked on our table odd… for how pricy the food is you would think the service would be great but I feel as if I’d maybe get better service elsewhere. Once again food was phenomenal but the service was very disappointing.

Came here for Valentine’s Day thinking we were going to get the regular menu. We were seated in a private room which had a different menu. We agree to do this full course set up regardless. We waited 45 minutes from when we ordered for appetizers and then an additional hour and 20 minutes for entrees. If that wasn’t enough my entree made me sick and I had to retreat for the lobby bathroom. Had to cancel the rest of our plans because of our long wait time and puking my guts out. I have been a fan of these guys in the past and the servers were kind but this is one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had and I got slapped with a 260 dollar bill because I couldn’t order from the regular menu on top of that. Pretty ridiculous, use to be a fan. Not coming back

Bit of a disappointing experience for the price.
My family got the Christmas dinner buffet as they were visiting and this was one of the few places we could go. Lot of the food was not refilled quickly, often resulting in multiple trips to get something if you really wanted it. Also they had this annoying policy of you having to wait for your server to bring you a new plate to go back up and let’s say on multiple occasions it had us waiting for plates or drinks due to slow service. Also didn’t really make any sense as most buffets will just stack the plates by the food, and it made us feel like they were trying to limit what we could get. Created a weird dynamic where you’d take stuff just cause it was available even if you maybe wanted to enjoy your steak with your mashed potatoes.
Food was also just OK. Like some of the best things were stuff that didn’t need to be cooked special. Mac and cheese, cheese/meat platter appetizers, bakery items. The main courses were pretty bland or just lightly seasoned.

We went for the Thanksgiving buffet today 2025. The food was cold. The food had good flavor but it was not hot, not even warm. The only thing that was very warm was the Cranbery-Orange bread pudding. It was under its own heat lamp. I told a server the food was cold and he said he would check but he never got back with us. The prime rib was not tender. He couldn’t cut it with the butter knife on the table. An automatic 20% gratuity was added to the check. Plus 3% to the kitchen staff. I prefer to tip my servers according to the service they provide not just have a fee added on automatically. So overall I’m very disappointed in this first time restaurant experience on Thanksgiving Day AND in THIS restaurant! We were very much looking forward to this holiday celebration and eating a delicious meal. I never thought a Thanksgiving buffet would be cold from an upscale restaurant. The chefs wasted a lot of time preparing great tasting food for it to be served cold. They all got the tip so how will they know they didn’t deserve it! I don’t recommend The Emporium in Fort Collins, Colorado.

My daughter wanted some beignets, so we came here. We arrived minutes after brunch was over, but they still kindly accommodated us. Beignets were flaky like croissants—everyone loved them. Happy hour menu had these amazing broken potatoes with chimichurri aioli. These were marked GF, but are cooked in a shared fryer. Excellent service, would come back again for a lunch or dinner!
