We really enjoyed eating lunch here and choosing from all of the options on the conveyor belt. It was easy to see the cost of each item because the plates are color coded. Everything was great but our favorites were the Tyson’s roll and the Chesapeake Bay roll. The mochi was a little too sweet. There were new items added to the conveyor regularly. We saw some really wonderful desserts after we were already full, but we can’t wait to try them next time.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and this spot was adorable. Conveniently placed in the mall and easy to get seated. Our server was quick to refill drinks and also get the check when it was time to go. I know that this sushi is never too notch and I don’t to a spot like this looking for the best sushi ever, but the nigiri pieces had a decent fish to rice ratio, didn’t get me sick, and they had a good variety in what was coming down the line. If you want sushi in a quick, fun format, this is definitely that spot for you!

Sushi train! Keeping in mind, it is a restaurant inside of a shopping mall walkway. It is a fun and easy outing. Good quality, food, quick and friendly service. Exciting for kids, but also an easy stop for solo diner. They also have non-fish items such as sweet potato rolls, peanut butter and jelly rolls, vegetables, hot dumplings etc. so there really is something for everyone

This is a cool idea. No waiting unless there’s none left on the conveyer belt. My daughter loved it. So many different options from sushi, veggie options to desserts.

There is a kids menu which was really a great deal – it came with a lot of dishes.

It’s easy to spend a lot of $$$ because the portions are somewhat small and it’s so easy to over eat because you are not waiting. It’s literally in front of you- no waiting!

You eat in the middle of the mall so people are constantly walking by (I guess that’s a different experience!)

Wasabi in Tyson Corner, Virginia, is a vibrant and casual dining spot serving conveyor-belt sushi and other Japanese-inspired dishes. The restaurant’s location within the mall provides a lively atmosphere, with passersby adding to the energy.

Key Highlights:

– Conveyor-Belt Sushi: Fresh sushi rolls and nigiri glide by on a belt, making for a fun and interactive experience.
– Variety: Beyond sushi, Wasabi offers Chinese and other Asian dishes, including stir-fried options and noodle bowls.
– Service: Friendly and attentive staff ensure a pleasant dining experience.

What to Expect:

– Busy atmosphere, especially during peak hours and weekends
– Sushi quality is generally good, but freshness can vary
– All-you-can-eat buffet available on Sundays

Popular Items:

– Unagi roll
– Spicy tuna roll
– Stir-fried kidney beans and shrimp
– Green tea mousse

Overall, Wasabi is a great spot for a quick, casual meal or a fun dining experience with friends and family.

Was at the mall and started feeling hungry, so I finally decided to check out that sushi spot I always walk past and honestly? Glad I did.

Service was on point, super friendly and fast. The setup is cool: you sit at a table while sushi rolls by you on a conveyor belt. You just grab what looks good, no waiting around. Each plate is color-coded by price, which makes it easy to keep track (or not, if you’re feeling adventurous).

I was starving so I didn’t even catch all the names of what I tried but every plate I grabbed was solid. Super fresh, tasty, and surprisingly good for showing up around 8pm when you’d expect things to slow down (they close at 9:30pm).

Price-wise? Affordable and worth it, especially for the experience.

Definitely recommend if you’re craving a quick sushi break or just want a fun dinner spot at the mall.

It’s a nice experience, where you can pick the plate you want directly from the conveyor belt. There are plenty of dishes from savory to sweet and even snacks and fruits. Shrimp tempura and california roll and eel nigiri was our favorite. Our least favorite was noba zen(i guess it is called like that)

Very open dining experience right in the middle of the mall. Pay by the plate conveyor belt sushi. It can sometimes be difficult grabbing stacked plates, and occasionally they will stop the conveyor belt to clean up a spill. It happened at least twice in the 45 min we were there. The sushi is ok- not the best I’ve had, but not quite the worst, either. Nice assortment of dumplings, rolls, snack items, and nigiri sushi. The service was great, checking up on us and keeping our drinks full. I don’t know that I would go back- I would rather go a mile up the road to Kura Sushi for a better conveyor belt experience.

It was lots of fun to be able to watch the food go by and pick it out yourself. Score is inflated to reflect fun. Actually quality of sushi is pretty medium. They do have gf soy sauce and offer a gluten free menu that you can use to select pieces off the belt. Be mindful of cross contamination

Update 2025

If you’re sprinting through life and need sushi that matches your pace, Wasabi’s your grab-and-go hero. No menus, no awkward “is this spicy?” questions—just sit, snatch, and snack. It’s basically the vending machine of sushi joints, but with a touch more dignity.

Now, let’s talk fish. Today’s tuna and salmon were serving lukewarm realness—like they just woke up from a nap and forgot they were supposed to be raw. Not tragic, but definitely giving “room temperature mystery.” Tamago and inari? Cute. They showed up, did their job, clocked out.

Price-wise, it’s sitting comfortably in the middle—not cheap enough to feel smug, not pricey enough to feel robbed. Just… fine.

Bottom line: If you want Morimoto-level artistry, keep walking. But if you’re hangry, in a rush, and craving sushi that doesn’t require eye contact or commitment, Wasabi’s your chaotic little oasis.
