After more than 15 years we finally made it back to our favorite childhood pizza restaurant. The pizza and food we had were just as great as always. What wonderful memories we had while visiting the area I once lived. Hopefully, we’ll be back soon.

Unique thin crust pizza and daily specials make this place a go to spot that has been around for decades. A recent refresh brings the vibe into the 21 st century, with a mixed crowd of young, old and families enjoying a night out. Bartenders are top notch, and friendly staff keep the food and drinks moving quickly. Put it on your list!!

Because I moved from Rockland County, I had not been to Nanuet restaurant in a few years. Although the physical plant has changed quite a bit, And it looks great, I’m happy to say The food is as good as I had remembered and I’m so happy I was able to stop by. I will make it my point to come back and have already called my children to tell them to take their families back to Nanuet restaurant even though it’s a 40 minute drive.

Did lunch here. My family and I (family of 4) loved it all. Our server Kristen was so sweet and just so kind. The sampler was such a hit. My husband liked the fried pickles. He doesn’t usually like them. The wings were great. The pretzel bites were such a hit. We had to take an order to go. Let’s just say everything on the sampler was amazing . My husband got the small buffalo pizza and I got the Popeyes pizza. We look the rest with us. Everything was really great would definitely go back.

I’m extremely disappointed with my last few encounters with Nanuet Restaurant. We love ordering take out, especially their wings and appetizers, so we keep giving them another chance. But this previous visit I think will be our last. We decided to eat there on a Friday night. We knew we’d have to wait for a table, it being Friday, but we did not expect to wait over an hour! We were told it would be 30 minutes, which is fine. And we needed a table for 6 people, so we patiently waited as there were people ahead of us. We continued to see people leave, including big parties but the list was not shrinking. Finally after 45 minutes, we asked for an ETA on our table, we asked about the back room and why no one has been sat there. They finally told us there’s a private party so we can’t sit there. Well, that information would’ve been great to know, because we figured we’d be seated back there since we were a bigger party. If we had known that information, I would’ve taken my family (which included two young children) else where. After seeing 4 tops being sat at the big tables by the bar, including a party that wasn’t even on the premises, only one person at the bar. We finally decided to call it quits because all the big tables were just sat and we wouldn’t be sat for probably another hour. Extremely disappointed for the lack of communication especially from an establishment that’s been around for years. It seemed completely unorganized on a Friday night. Even take out orders were severely backed up. Just very unappealing to return.

Update to my previous review from 2 years ago. Dropped one star (to 4) because we went here last night and they have a new menu with some price hikes. The mozarella stick appetizer was $16! For 5 small mozz sticks. The personal pizza was $19 (with extra cheese and half sausage) – which would be fine, but the personal pie is pretty small. I spent $40+ on a dinner of mozz sticks and a small pizza. We were also told the pizza would take 30 min (even though the place was empty) and it came out overcooked. I didn’t feel like it was the usual 5-star experience, but I will visit again because it could have just been an off night. I will definitely not be ordering the mozz sticks again though – I’m still annoyed I spent $16 on what should have been an $8 appetizer.

This place has been popular for pizza since I was a kid but they have really stepped up their game with the menu and quality of food the past few years. A great variety of options and daily special, plus lots of specialty pies. The pizza crust is buttery and the perfect thickness, and a large pie is enough for 2-3 people. The French onion soup is huge and full of cheese. The chicken and vegetables are always fresh, and the service is on point. During peak times, it gets very busy and is very loud in both the bar and dining room. If you want a quieter experience, go earlier or later than the usual 5-7 dinner crowd.

We visited this restaurant twice while visiting my brother, the staff were incredibly friendly from a service perspective and a general curiosity when hearing we were visiting even had suggestions on their personal favourites and checking in to make sure everything was to our liking. One night we wandered in a little late nearing the closing time for the kitchen and they quickly sat us down and got the orders in before closing, they couldn’t have been any more polite and helpful.

Having grown up with this place in the 70s, I finally had a chance to see it post-renovation during a rare trip to Rockland. Save for the neon sign outside I never would have recognized it. Totally different inside, though they’ve kept some mementos (including a few hats from the bar).
Place was packed with a long line on a Saturday night, but we snagged seats at the bar. No more pitchers of Bud—now there are several microbrews. The bartenders were friendly and gracious. They’ve heard the stories a hundred times but are happy to listen.
While all of the food going by looked great (especially the sliders), we came 250 miles for pizza. No disappointment at all, as it was the same as ever. A bartender told us the same guy has been making the dough 20-something years.
Happy to see the Nanuet Restaurant thriving. Whenever we’re back that way we will return.
