Today was spent having tea, viewing the so cute inviting business. Listened to the life history of Caroline’s Cakes.

I hate that this last cake was no where near the standards that all of our previous cakes have been. I think what makes it worse is how much you are paying and then it is disappointing when your special occasion has to figure out something else. The first time I tried Caroline’s Cakes was last June. That cake and the ones ordered after that were all amazing. This time not only was the box/packing in horrible shape and almost thawed, the cake itself was so dry. And at that price point obviously the directions were followed to prepare to serve it. I have to wonder if the condition the cake arrived in had anything to do with the cake being so dry. Yes, it is HOT IN GA but not any hotter than it was this last year. It definitely makes me leery to purchase another cake especially when your paying the extra $20.00 to have it delivered fresh.

I am in upper kitchen management at a two Michelin star, San pellegrino awarded restaurant in California and I was born and raised in the Lowcountry in South Carolina. I do not say that to brag, I just see alot of people on here acting like they are really cake experts and being very critical of Mrs. Caroline and I’d really like to know what your credentials are. Well let me tell ya’ll, I got the caramel cake shipped to me frozen for my birthday (I thawed for 24 hours in the fridge) and it was the real deal. It was extremely good and if you’re out here eating it and having a bad time that says more about you than it does about the cake. Thank yall at Caroline’s Cakes for taking the time to make a delicious southern classic, God bless

I got a caramel cake slice and 4 cupcakes. It cost me $19. The yellow cake on the caramel slice was very dry. The caramel icing was ok. All four of the cupcakes are incredibly dry very tough to eat. They taste like they may be old. The strawberry icing on the strawberry cupcake split and they piped it on there anyway. That cupcake was disgusting and I couldn’t even attempt to try anything but the icing which was gross. The lime cupcake really had no flavor both of the white icing tasted just like whipped butter. They had no flavor to them at all. On the caramel cupcake again, the cake was very dry, and the caramel on that cupcake was grainy. This was like a 1 out of 10 for me. $19 is not bad but $19 spent on something I really couldn’t eat is terrible.

Went in looking for a simple birthday cake. Thinking something chocolate or maybe caramel. I am looking through at the per slice arrangements to so many wonderful choices. I grab the chocolate and caramel cake, so I could try both flavors in on slice, and my eyes glance over to an interesting flavor, orange-cranberry. I grab that slice too to ease my curiosity. Sat and tried my slices. Started with the chocolate/Carmel. Great flavor, not too sweet, and cake had a wonderful texture. The chocolate outer layer didn’t have the greasy mouth-feel of commercial icing. Great cake. I then tried the orenge-cran…. mind blowingly good. Wonderful jammy cranberries, reminiscent of a black forest cake, wonderful orange icing. I immediately get a whole cake. I am met with the most wonderful service and sweet people while I rave about what they made. You absolutely need to get a cake from here.

I ordered the pink champagne cake for a birthday. The shipping is fast and exquisite! Every measure is taken to make sure your cake arrives in tact and ready to serve once it has been thawed out. The cake arrives frozen on dry ice. Maybe it’s just me but the actual flavor of the cake did not deliver. It tasted like a glorified strawberry box cake. I didn’t detect any notes of champagne on my palate. My family also agreed that the champagne notes are non-existent. The icing was the same flavor experience: just a super sweet vanilla with a hint of strawberry.
The texture of the cake was a little on the dry side and the icing could use less sugar. Overall, it was a fun experience to order a cake online but I would not order again. It wasn’t worth $60 and after everyone ate their taste test slice, the rest of the cake went in the trash. I submitted a review on the website but I guess the reviews are filtered there. That would explain why there are only four reviews for this cake and they are all positive.
Update: We decided to give it another whirl by ordering a more traditional flavor for the holidays but it turns out that the red velvet was greasy, mushy and unappetizing as well. We gave it a fair shake.

Happy customer since 2016. Caroline’s Cakes makes an amazing product and is my go to place for my birthday cake every year. The 7 Layer Caramel Cake is so delicious and loved by everyone I have shared my cake with. One year we tried the cake bites which are a perfect hand held solution. This year I was craving the 7 Layer Coconut Cloud cake so I got the half cake mix so we could also enjoy the 7 Layer Caramel as well. The ship really quick and packing was perfect. Thank you Caroline’s for making it another awesome birthday.

Just like another review, we drove over an hour because of all the hype about the cakes. I was so disappointed. Fortunately I won a discount for the anniversary a couple days ago so I didn’t pay as much but it was more the drive for that. The lemon cupcake was actually good. The mocha cupcake was horrible and I love mocha. The frosting was hard and seemed like lard and the cupcake itself was falling apart because it was so dry. It had some strange cream with grainy sugar inside. Then I got some slices of the caramel cake. The cake was good but the frosting was grainy that I ate around it. Overall, I was expecting so much more. Very sad.

I stopped in and purchased 6 cupcakes. They were reasonably priced (19.26) they were jumbo sized (in my opinion). The red velvet and apple/cinnamon were the best! Both were moist and the frosting was perfect. The chocolate was my least favorite, it was heavily iced and tasted like a dark chocolate. The caramel was good, but too sweet for my liking. The vanilla icing was overly powerful on tasting like butter and even felt a little greasy. All of the cake parts of the cupcakes were excellent. I just wasn’t a huge fan of some of the frostings. The store was clean and the sales person was very pleasant. I will visit again!8

Hello, I bought a Red Velet cake for my brother’s birthday. I had it shipped directly to him and the process came off very easy and so satisfying. The cake arrived in perfect condition and on time. The cake was so easy to remove from the tin due to the smart way it was packed with the plastic to lift it from the tin. The best part was the cake. Everyone enjoyed the cake and said how moist it was. We shared with the waitress a couple of slices of the cake and she enjoyed it so much she took a picture of the tin in which the cake was shipped to get the name of the company. She should be a new customer as she loved this Red Velvet cake….
I have also bought the 7 layer caramel and the coconut cakes. I love all of them. Every cake has been delicious!!! This is a must try cake company!!!!
