We ordered 4 tacos (pastor, lengua, asada, chorizo), two gorditas (pastor, lengua), one tamale (pollo), and horchata.
The tacos were great, but a tad bit greasy. They came with a large wedge of lime and two nice sauces (red, and green). Gorditas were generous in portion and well made. The lengua was plump, tender, and flavorful. The tamale was unique. It was the banana leaf type with a whole bone-in chicken thigh inside. The sauce was a roasted pepita seed style that was smokey and full of great umami flavor. The horchata was great and had an extra cinnamon kick.
The service was absolutely fantastic. We were waited on by a sweet, friendly woman who filled our waters multiple times, and she checked on us frequently.
The bathrooms were very clean and warm. What a great spot!
We pulled up and a guy was in his car near the back door, and Cam jokingly said that’s probably the cook. Then came in and the place was completely empty. A few minutes later we are finally greeted by, I think the guy in the truck! Super nice and helped us place our order.
Cam’s tacos came out quickly and he really enjoyed them. I’m a bit more picky and wasn’t a huge fan of mine, but more so because I’m not a huge fan of cooked green onion, and there was an entire green onion in the Churrasquito that I ate. That’s more about my picky palate than their food, though. I also didn’t get silverware and it was a bit messy eating it while holding it like a burrito. The server would bring stuff out, then disappear. (It took a good 15 minutes easy to see her again after dropping off food for a takeout order. I had Cam run up to the counter to get rung up before she disappeared again.)
Three other customers came in while we were there, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals as well. When we go back, (and we will be back!) I’ll probably get something a bit more familiar, like tacos or a quesadilla.
Also when we were leaving the guy was back out in his truck again, kind of dancing around like was doing a FaceTime or TikTok. It definitely made me smile.
I had just gone out of my way to leave a tip on a carryout order (she had initially bypassed the option to do so) .. over 20% ..and then she charges me $1 for a small green sauce, even though she knew I would have to do an additional credit card transaction.
I won’t be back. You lost a customer AND a wellwisher
I got the Al Pastor Tacos, Lengua Tacos, and a pork tamale. All to go.
All the tacos were still piping hot after I got home, which was about a 10-minute drive. The Al Pastor tacos were cooked to perfection and oh-so tender.
The lengua was our favorite. It had grilled pineapples in it, even MORE tender, and was just absolutely bangin. I ordered all the tacos with onions and cilantro; and there were also some sliced radishes that came with the food that really complimented everything.
The pork tamale was wrapped in a green leaf and the corn was delicious and meaty. Exceptionally well-seasoned. The pork was absolutely incredible. Generously large, tender chunks that had so. much. flavor. They tasted as if they’d been marinated and slow-cooked for hours.
And don’t get me started on the salsas. Hands down some of the best salsas I’ve ever had. The red one was creamy, punchy, and had this incredible meatiness to it. The green one was tangy but refreshing, and slightly less spicy.
Definitely coming back for more.
