Excellent food and service. I have no reservations recommending Sushi Ichika. I haven’t eaten in sushi restaurants all over the US but I have eaten in sushi restaurants all over Japan and this stands comparison. I will definitely return. The uni was a standout: it simply melted in the mouth.

Unique Japanese small kitchen omakase experience. Deserves 5 stars. We stayed at Granbell Susukino and it was 1 minute walk. The food was awesome no questions asked. During your trip to Sapporo, if you have to choose one omakase sushi in your travel plan. Choose this one. The course took us a little more than two hours and with my wife we had two beers 4 Hokkaido sakes and Yamazaki 12 whisky along with highest tier omasake and the bill came out to be 48000 jpy out the door.

First time experiencing Sushi Ichika’s omakase. There are 2 seatings – 530pm and 730pm and 2 Omakase options – $120 and $160. Unfortunately, it is no longer BYOB. Corkage fee was $35. Ken-san was entertaining and we enjoyed his omakase offerings. There were about 15 items plus miso soup and sorbet. I was very full and happy at the end of the meal. *We had the early seating and the $160 course. I did feel a little rushed at the end and will probably opt for the second seating next time so we can enjoy the experience more

Everything was delicious, but what really impressed us was the fatty tuna grilled over binchotan charcoal.
Unlike regular grilling, the aroma of binchotan charcoal wafted through our nose, adding a wonderful accent. It was a completely new and unique dish that we’d never tasted before.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was also great, and we’re sure everyone will want to come back again!

This restaurant opened on Peakoi Street last August.
The sushi manager is the former head of Suntory in Waikiki.
I was impressed by the meticulous preparation and freshness of the ingredients.
