I got the char grilled shrimp spring rolls for takeout. The rolls were not very full and the rice paper was tough. Overall disappointing for nearly $20 for 4 spring rolls.

Of the many Vietnamese food places in town, unfortunately I would not recommend.

Delicious Vietnamese cuisine brought to the states in the 1970’s and has continued to be one of the most well known and visited restaurants serving culturally original Vietnamese food. To this day, I have yet to find a restaurant that can compare with Pho Tau Bay’s bowl of Pho. Hands down the best I’ve had. Classy but casual atmosphere in downtown New Orleans. A must visit establishment for Vietnamese food lovers (especially the pho). Just ask Emeril Legassey who makes the best Phi not just locally, but anywhere.

This place was fine, honestly, but I was looking for amazing. I know NOLA has a large Vietnamese population, and as a pho connoisseur, I couldn’t wait to find a local spot. This has the best reviews, but I was a little disappointed. The broth doesn’t have much flavor – just salty. The chicken spring rolls were dry. It was a little bit of a let down. The staff were super friendly and it was very clean at least!!

Walked over on my first day in New Orleans and greatly enjoyed my meal. I got the CM 12 and AP 14 to eat in the restaurant, and two banh mi to-go for lunches the next couple days. Everything was perfectly made and presented beautifully, and the flavors were so good. I absolutely hope to be back. Great experience.

I had a well done beef and sausage pho here before a show at the Saenger Theater. Spacious, well lit, and very clean space. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The pho and toppings were so fresh. Bathroom was super clean. Always a great sign of pride in cleanliness by staff and management.

Wonderful family-run Vietnamese restaurant in the medical district. All the bahn mi and spring rolls are freshly made to order and delicious. Generous portions and very reasonable prices. The family is always on the premises, so you know you’re going to have a great meal.

From out of town and this was the best food and friendliest service of the whole trip. Everything was delicious, the spring rolls were phenomenal! Definitely recommend it for something outside of the tourists trap restaurants and hope to make it back before leaving

05/28/2024: I always attempt to order/get Vietnamese food when I travel just to experience what it tastes like in that particular locale.

I’m in NOLA for work and spotted Pho Tau Bay nearby with good reviews. I think it was at 4.6 when I looked them up on Google.

I order a couple of dishes for dinner and work lunches. I got pho, banh mi, goi cuon, and xoi

The pho had no aromatic or beefy flavors. It barely tasted like pho. The meat, noodles, and veggies were all standard. The broth was terribly disappointing.

The xoi was okay and nothing particularly special. The banh mi was lacking meat, but the pate was surprisingly the tastiest part. The tofu goi cuon was also standard. I really liked the hoisin/peanut sauce.

The food overall was mediocre and I would not go or order from Pho Tau Bay. I wanted to bring my work colleagues to this spot since it’s close to my work, but that is not going to happen.

Also the prices were WAY HIGH. I don’t want to even say how much I paid with tip.

I did appreciate the food arriving fast and packaged well.

Not-so-hidden gem of the area surrounding Charity in the CBD. It’s good Vietnamese in a counter service setting, but with mid-scale table service prices. The prices are what they are because the clientele is mostly Tulane people.

Local family owned and operated Vietnamese restaurant. This spot is widely regarded as having the best Pho and Bahn Mi in New Orleans, and I agree.
Their broth is, apparently, an old family recipe, and has an unmatched depth of flavor while remaining clean and subtle as pho should be. You can taste the “love” in every sip/bite!
