We came here today because we had often seen long lines outside and were curious to try it ourselves. For the burritos, I ordered the beef tongue, and the other dish (I can’t remember the exact name) was made with regular beef. Both were really delicious. The meat was flavorful, tender, and well-cooked.
The restaurant was clean, and even the restroom was very clean. The staff were friendly and polite, and the service was smooth.
Overall, we had a great experience, and in our opinion, this place definitely deserves five stars.

I finally had the chance to taste what is arguably the most famous burrito in all of SF. I went close to noon on weekday, and the queue was about 15 minutes long. The line moves incredibly fast, and before I knew I was already placing my order. I got the burrito they are known for which is their carne asada super burrito. I got it toasted. You place your order at the front, and then you go inside and pay your bill, and then you wait for them to call your number. The inside of the restaurant is packed, and often you will be sharing your table with other Diners, making it a very communal form of dining. My burrito took about 10 minutes to arrive, and it was probably the best burrito I have ever eaten. It wasn’t as hefty as other burritos, given the lack of rice, which gives it volume, but the meat was so tender, the beans were so well seasoned, and the sour cream, and the guac was so creamy. This was such a satisfying burrito and also the perfect portion size for one person.
I will definitely be back, but I also want to try some other burritos in the neighbourhood.

Came here twice, two different times on a weekend. Always a long line. There is a long long wait. Average about an hour long. Easy set up. Pay for what you want and seat where they tell you. No seats if you ask for to go. Remember that! You may sit with others if you are on a long table. There are some big group tables but might have to wait a bit. They do serve beer but no cocktails. Their portions are very generous. Had their regular taco carne asado. Can’t image how big the super tacos are?? I love their burritos dorado style. No rice in their burritos so it doesn’t make you super full. Love it! Crispy in the outside of the tortillas. Can’t really ask to customize anything. Love their green spicy sauce and it’s available on the table when you eat. You can buy the bottle as well. Very decent prices. Service is decent. Would come here again but can’t come here when I am starving.

The hype is justified. The best carne asada super burrito I have ever tasted. Definitely get it toasted. I wish it were spicier, but still. Premium ingredients and cooked perfectly. Strawberry aqua fresca was also very good. At 3pm on Thursday, the wait in line was 16 minutes and 12 minutes to make the food. No issues sitting a solo, if you don’t mind sharing a table.

Famous burrito spot in Mission district. Long wait but the burrito is excellent. Taste of everything is superb. Really enjoyed the Super because it includes sour cream, cheese and avocado which just elevates the flavor. Vibe is authentic and there’s nothing extra. You’re just there for the good food! I would recommend a weekday as the line can be quite long and get there early!

Best burrito in the world nothing else compares and I’ve eaten a lot of burritos. I am not sure what it is but this place is just amazing. When my bf gets me from SFO I make him bring me this or if I’m visiting friends I always come here at least once. This place is always worth the wait and the amount of food they give for the price is a great deal too.

I’m from NYC and I’ve had a lot of great Mexican food at home but this was unlike anything I’ve tried before and very delicious and filling. The carne asada tacos were tasty and the chicken quesadilla was so flavorful! Would highly recommend checking it out if you’re visiting SF

Unfortunately… worth the hype. One of the best burritos I’ve ever had and it starts with the tortilla. So good but so sturdy to hold everything. I wish it was twice the size because I wanted to eat it forever. Wow.

La Taqueria is often called the world’s best burrito spot, and after tasting it myself, I can see why it has such a devoted following. Every burrito is packed with fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped with care—the flavors hit just the right balance of bold and comforting.
I’d give it an 8.5/10—almost perfection. The portions are generous without feeling heavy, and every bite is satisfying. While a few small details kept it from feeling completely elevated, the overall experience is still outstanding and absolutely worth visiting if you’re in San Francisco. For anyone serious about burritos, La Taqueria is a must-stop!

I’ve seen all the Instagram videos, heard all the hype, and read all the claims that La Taqueria serves some of the best Mexican food in the country. I finally made the trip, and honestly, I’m glad I did. The food really is as good as everyone says—an easy 10 out of 10.
That being said, this place definitely has its cons. You should expect a very long line almost any day of the week. On a lucky day, the wait might be around 20–30 minutes, but it can go much longer. Once you finally reach the front and place your order, you’ll notice the staff is working incredibly fast. They’re not rude at all—they’re just in non-stop hustle mode, so don’t expect a warm chatty environment.
After ordering, two new challenges start: finding a seat and waiting for your food. The inside is very small, cramped, and not the most comfortable place to sit. The last time I visited, the food took almost an hour after ordering. It sounds crazy, but the moment the food arrives, everything changes.
The burritos here truly are on another level. I recommend ordering Mission Style (no rice), which lets the flavors stand out—the guacamole, the steak, the little green beans, everything. They’re generous with the guac, the meat is amazing, and the flavors are insanely well-balanced. You can also ask for Dorado (toasted). I usually say “Mission Style, Dorado,” and it comes out perfectly crispy all around.
Even with the long lines, the tight seating, and the slow wait inside, the food makes up for every single flaw. It really is the best burrito I’ve ever had. I hope one day they expand or speed up the line, but for now, it’s still absolutely worth the hype. This place is magical and a must-try.
