My daughter wanted tomato soup and grilled cheese. Tomato soup Florentine was absolutely delicious as well as both of our grilled cheeses. Very dog friendly All the dogs came into visit for a treat and service was wonderful. We just was very nice and cheerful cute little spot to get something delicious to eat in Newport.

Ok so this was quite literally incredible- i went here for lunch and i had a zoom meeting interview as well, the staff was so friendly from the moment i walked in the door, the food was seriously the best grilled cheese ive ever had (pepperoni pizza grilled cheese) and the staff even chatted with me and congratulated me on how well my interview went! Wow, I’m a local and stopped in and grabbed a lunch special which came w fresh curried carrot soup, half a grilled cheese and some spud nuggets. Also a cookie and a drink! The staff are super fun and friendly and they have a great menu for breakfast and lunch. Salads, wraps, sides, fresh cookies too. Great little spot on Broadway!

If you’ve not given yourself a treat by going to scratch for a bowl of their amazing chili, you need to go and you need to go now! That has got to be, hands-down, the best chili I’ve ever had in my entire life! The slow roasted seasoned braised beef, brisket, and Charisse combination is perfection! Just the right amount of heat, texture, and flavors in this yummy bowl of goodness!! Add some shredded cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream on top and you have a party in your mouth my friends!Staff there is super friendly and the vibe is very cool. Do yourselves a favor now, run, don’t walk don’t a scratch and have a bowl of their chili!

Scratch is a whole vibe! While visiting RI, we stumbled on Scratch. Great food, excellent service. The team was very friendly and accommodating. We observed the team interact with an older regular, and they treated her like she was family . Talk about kindness with a side of affordability❤️

This is an excellent place for a bite or meal. Stephanie runs a great restaurant here. Twice in the last couple of months, I’ve ordered several breakfast sandwiches for the local semi-homeless community. They love them as do I! Very good selection of breakfast and lunch items.

I was chilling at my hotel, at which point, I got hungry for breakfast. My partner found this joint nearby and it looked to get great reviews so I decided to walk over.
Came at around 9:15 AM on a Saturday and they weren’t too busy and had tables available. The layout of the joint threw me off at first as it looks like they are counter serve. But they actually do table service! My waitress was nice and attentive to my table.
I got the Chicken & Waffles sandwich with a side of bacon as my meal. I was overall blown away! The waffles were toasted perfectly, the chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the bacon was crispy.
Overall, Scratch Kitchen, a fantastic sandwich shop in Newport! If I’m back in town, I’ll easily come back!

I never understood the hype over grilled cheese sandwiches. After scratch, now I get not only the hype but I’ve met the heart and soul of grilled cheese sandwiches. We had a Reuben and it was amazing as well.

Small place, but big menu as far as the kinds of grilled cheese options to choose from. This place hit the spot for breakfast! Hearty and warm. I swear the English muffins out here are amazing so soft and tasty. They say its the water that makes NY bagels so good, so that must be the same for Newport English muffins. Never had one as good as out here. I’m shocked they weren’t even busier when we were there.
