Reviews
We arrived toward the end of happy hour (3–6 PM) and were able to order several items at happy hour pricing, including dumplings and half-priced signature cocktails. The value during HH is hard to beat! Beautiful, well-balanced cocktails at half off makes it an easy yes! They also offer a daily reverse happy hour starting at 9 PM.
Everything we ordered:
Orange Chicken
Salted Egg Yolk Prawns (first time ordering)
Tea Smoked Duck (first time ordering)
Beef Chow Fun
Snow Pea Leaves
Pan Fried Pork Buns
Pork Xiao Long Bao
Crab Rangoon
Everything was delicious as usual! Tea smoked duck was good but personally I prefer Peking duck.
The space has a chill, moody lounge vibe that works just as well for dinner with friends as it does for date night or even a solo seat at the bar. Parking nearby is fairly easy, which is always a plus on Greenville.
A special shoutout to our server, Daisy. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure our timing with happy hour was seamless. Service like that makes the experience even better!
Definitely a repeat spot for us!
We tried several dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious. The crispy cucumber was refreshing and perfectly balanced, while the crab rangoon was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The pork xiao long bao were a standout juicy, flavorful, and made just right. We also loved the dumpling sampler, which is perfect if you want to try a variety of dumplings in one order.
For mains, the honey walnut prawns were incredible crispy, sweet, and perfectly cooked. The spicy dry fried beans added the perfect kick and were full of bold flavor, making them a great complement to the rest of the meal.
On top of the amazing food, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the entire experience even better.
If you’re searching for authentic and high-quality Chinese cuisine in Dallas, Fortune House is an excellent choice. Highly recommended we’ll definitely be back!
The biggest disappointment was the beef chow fun. The beef wasn’t very tender, and the rice noodles were clumped together instead of being nicely separated.
I actually enjoyed the dumplings quite a bit especially the original pork and vegetable ones. They were very juicy, well-seasoned, and tasted very similar to what I’ve had in China. The other colored dumplings had a different flavor profile that I’m not quite used to. While the fillings were still juicy, the taste wasn’t really to my preference.
Both the beef noodle soup and the spicy beef noodle soup were solid choices. The broth was flavorful, the noodles had a nice, authentic texture, and I appreciated that the spicy version didn’t hold back on the heat and it definitely had a good kick. I do wish the Yangzhou fried rice had more wok hei for that smoky depth of flavor.
On the plus side, the prices are surprisingly reasonable considering this is downtown Dallas.
Overall, it was a good dining experience.
My only minor complaint is for the soup dumplings, only half of our order was able to be eaten properly as the bottoms came undone very easily, this was a disappointment, as they were very flavorful, and I would of loved to be able to enjoy them all.
Overall I still highly recommend them & will definitely return.
Portions are pretty big so you’ll likely leave with leftovers which is never a bad thing!
The wait staff was very friendly and prompt. They navigated us through the menu options. Slight wait on the food but around normal timing.
Each of the entrees was flavorful and delicious. However, the rice seemed a bit dry. Asked for additional napkins and did not receive them. All in all, the experience was great, and the food portions were satisfying.
