I’m currently on a mission to find the best chilaquiles in Phoenix, and Canelas Placita is definitely worth mentioning. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos, and the salsa roja estilo Michoacán was the highlight great flavor and authentic taste.
The café de olla was excellent as well, very flavorful and prepared just right. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with good music and friendly customer service.
The only area that could use some improvement is the beans, but overall the food and service were very good.
Canelas Placita is a solid spot if you’re looking for authentic Mexican breakfast options in Phoenix. I’d definitely return.

I got Carne asada fries and the fries were cold. They were pale, not brown and crispy as fries should be. Some were even completely cold on the inside. Won’t be coming back.

I ordered some carne asada fries to go and honestly they have to be the worst ones I’ve tried. The meat has no taste the fries are not crunchy I believe a bit under cooked and honestly nothing but the onions and cilantro and the most taste. I asked for avocado and all tho they did provide they gave me 3 little pieces on top of my fries. Was not a good place to go for lunch break feel like I wasted my time and money.

Got the rolled flautas, two out of four had a toothpicks rolled INSIDE of the meat, not poking thru, rolled inside! The little meat that was in them was also very very dry. Zero stars

This is a nice family owned business. Everyone was super nice. You can watch them make you food fresh. They have a lot of different options and even daily specials. The sonoran dog is pretty good and love the chile that comes with it. The quesabirria quesadilla is definitely on the smaller side. Their birria is moist and has good flavor. The resturant is super clean and quiet. I was able to run in and out during my lunch. My entire meal was $12 and could have been a bigger portion. They do serve some adult beverages and Agua Frescas. Definitely a place to come check out.

The food is delicious! Reminds me of my nana’s cooking.. tacos are good portion and flavorful. Quesabirria was awesome and tortilla was crunchy. Red salsa is spicy. Green salsa is not spicy. Both salsas are really good depending on how spicy you can handle. Definitely coming back!
