We came from laguna beach, and we wanted to go to our Go-To burger place here. We specifically came for this restaurant. we walked in and there was nobody front of house. We waited 5-10 minutes for somebody to come seat us at a table. After that still nobody came and we sat ourselves. No server came to give us menus so we had gotten some left at the drink area. A male server yelled from across the resturant “we’re only doing outside seating” there was 2 tables that were eating the rest were empty. His tone was rude. So we sat outside and the Server rushed to bring us water, we were ready to order and he did not come back, we wait for more than 15 minutes to order. He disappeared and we left. super bad experience and terrible . not coming back.

The place wasn’t too busy, maybe 4 tables of people and the rest of the tables open. There were 4 employees in the front of house as well. We ordered the Umami Burger and The Black Garlic Burger. After we put in the order, the server kind of disappeared. We were sitting for a bit and no one went to check on the food. Finally we asked to see if our order is ready and it came out. The burgers were suprisingly much much better than I expected. The burgers were insanely juice and the cheese was melted to perfection. I really really liked the food but the service was the complete opposite. We waited about 15 more minutes until we flagged down an employee (wasn’t our server) for the check.

Son recommended this place because he know I love a great burger place, he wasn’t wrong. We both had the Black Garlic Burger, Tots with three cheese stuffed inside and parmesan sprinkled on the outside. Had the Garlic Fries, Sweet Potato and one other. Adrian was our server and made some great recommendations. They make an amazing Bloody Mary here as well. Quick and friendly service and lots of room for everyone.

The food is great and our servers are awesome everytime! Shoutout to Brian and the kitchen staff who makes us feel special when he brings out our order (sorry I didn’t get your name).
We got the korean burger, sunnyside burger, lettuce wrapped truffle burger, and truffle fries. (I hope I got that right >_<).
I took down a star because the truffle fries are no longer what they used to be (shoestring fries packed with more truffle flavor doused in white cheese and chives).
Wish they could bring that back and this place would be solid for all of us again. We didn’t go here for a while grieving the loss of them fries, and overall just no longer come here as often as we would like. But that could be for the best for our diets anyways so ✌

I was surprised. The quality of the food it was so delicious makes me crave it just thinking about it. The drinks were also spot on. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area, especially if you’re about to cache a comedy show. Our waitress was amazing. She was helpful, attentive, and most importantly nice.

My visit to Umami Burger was less than satisfactory, earning it a two-star rating. The service was abysmal; there was no one available to address concerns or take orders promptly. The food, while acceptable, didn’t stand out, and the atmosphere left much to be desired. It’s unfortunate to say, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment.

What’s up with this place? We went out with a group of friends and someone mentioned this place used to be great and lively so we decided to try it out. But when we went inside, it was very dark as if many of the lights were off, we were the only ones there, the table was sticky as if it wasn’t clean and the seats were dirty. We got a bad feeling and just decided to leave and go elsewhere. How can anyone possibly take pride in owning or managing this place? It looks like it has potential but is clearly neglected. What a shame.

Wasn’t too busy at the time. This Umami Burger isn’t the same exact quality from what I remember having pre-pandemic. You’d have to order and pay directly from your phone and it was fairly fast coming out. The burger doesn’t taste the same from what I remember. It doesn’t have that same umami meaty taste the oozes flavor. Instead it seemed like a regular burger I can get from any other burger place. It is a decent place to get something to eat when the other restaurants have long waits but it wouldn’t be my first choice to go for a burger anymore. But hey, at least the picture I took came out looking good. If it looks good to you, I can at least say it’s edible and filling.

Can’t give this restaurant 5 stars despite their pretty good vegan beyond burger because the portion is a little on the small side. Although their service is good when you eat in you should never order takeout. I ordered my daughter a sandwich and drink and a burger for myself. They forgot to give us the drink not to mention by the time we got home my burger was all soggy because they got the sauce consistency wrong and the flavor was a bit off.
