Wonderful food , great atmosphere and some of the best service around !
We started off with deep fried pimento cheese patties . I had the crab cakes with grits and asparagus . For dessert I had the warm bourbon pecan pie .

Found a fairly new place in Roanoke VA that we have never tried. The Founders Tavern opened sometime late last year.

For starters I had a mixed drink and the wife a glass of Cabernet. Man knows how to mix a drink! They brought us out some house made chips while waiting for our dinner to be served. The chips were very thick and tasty. Very very crisp for their thickness. Loved them.

I had the Cajun Pasta consisting of Penne pasta cooked Aldente just as it should be, sauteed shrimp cooked perfectly, Andouille sausage, green peppers, and onions all in a light flavorful Cajun creme sauce. Very good dish. If I had to criticize anything it would be the Andouille sausage. While flavorful the skin was very chewy almost like a Slim Jim chew. Not a very spicy dish. It had just enough heat on the back end to give it a pop.

Also I had a bowl of Collard Greens. Seasoned to perfection with a touch of heat on the back end as well. They were a bit to leafy for my liking. I like them roughly chopped at least. That is just a personal preference. Nothing at all wrong with these greens!

Tammy had a Grilled Cajun shrimp salad. I did not try any, but she said the shrimp was cooked perfectly and the salad was very fresh.

All in all a good place to visit. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it a 7. We will definitely return and try a few more items.

Great lunchtime date experience. The decor was welcoming and the staff was warm and helpful! The food was served in a timely manner and was delicious and a good value for the portions we received. Plan on going back really soon with friends!

My husband and I stopped by for an early dinner, first time in. Both of us had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Place was pretty empty. Service was good. Fries were good. I wasn’t terribly taken with the sandwich. Thought the chicken was too thick and a might chewy. Based on first impressions, I’d try a different dish. Wasn’t the best tavern food I’ve had but it was ok. Unfortunately, I think the restaurant kept the old carpet and I really notice a scent resulting from that. I’m sensitive to things like that so while it wasn’t terrible, I’d have a tendency to choose another restaurant that smelled fresher.

Good food! I had the New Orleans pasta. Lots of pasta. Needs more meat, but flavor was amazeballs! Beer cold, Bloody Mary bar on Sunday! Recommend! Service was great too! We had Lindsey for our server. She was great!

We have been to Founders Tavern three times since it opened. On each occasion the food has been excellent and the service very good.
Everything from the pimento fritters to the steak tenderloin with crab hash is delicious. We have also had the ahi tuna salad, the salmon and shrimp and grits. My friend said that her fried chicken took her back to her mother’s chicken which she loved in her childhood.
Our third visit was for the Easter Brunch. The scrambled eggs with cheese were to die for. Other equally delicious offerings included ham, turkey, smoked salmon, gorgeous fruits and vegetables, fabulous mac and cheese, cookies, brownies and much more.
Founders Tavern is our favorite new place!

A member of my party sent her food back twice as it was overcooked. She never got her meal and was charged. the keg was at the bottom of the barrel and the portion sizes were not at all worth the price. Of our party of 12 we all agreed we would not be going back. Our server was very nice, but this place has top to bottom problems…in my opinion.

Came on a Thursday night, it was a ghost town, no hostess, no server to be found, tried to speak with the bartender but she was having a personal conversation. Left, came back again, found three servers and got a table this time. The server was prompt and friendly, and the food was probably good when they made it originally, but it wasn’t fully microwaved when it got to us. And for 15$ meat loaf I’d personally prefer it warmed on a stove.

We went twice for meals during the week between Christmas and New Years. Friendly wait staff, Great bartender, Excellent drinks and Tasty food. The complimentary chips are a nice option over the usual bread served elsewhere. We will eat here when we return to Cave Spring.

The food was amazing, great atmosphere. Excellent service from a very polite and helpful waitress. The hardest thing was to decide on only one of the many great choices on the menu! We will be back to try the rest.
