We made a detour to visit Frankenmuth, Michigan because I wanted to see a German community and to try their food. After leaving, I realized I wasn’t in the downtown area but at the Bavarian Inn Zehnder. (Google maps gave directions to this inn although I input downtown Frankenmuth, MI.)
As I was finding a parking space, numerous tour buses pulled up and dropped passengers off. I can see why my wait time was twenty minutes (shortest wait time at any of the restaurants). While waiting, I walked around the building and realized that that all the restaurants – different décor – had almost identical menus but prices seem to vary for the same dishes (maybe quantity is different). The gift store was stuffed with all kinds of souvenir items.
Although I was seated in Lorelei Lounge, I was given a Oma’s menu. As I looked around the room and by the bar, there was a doorway leading to Oma restaurant.
This Inn is known for its fried chicken. The chicken was fried crispy and well seasoned but the insides were not moist nor tender. For its notoriety, it did not meet my expectations. The pork schnitzel was so so – not as good as other German restaurants I tried. The Franconian Combination Plate of sausage and chicken was nothing special. I thought it needed more flavoring and not so overcooked. Food presentation was poor. If it was better, I might have finished my plate.
The Apfel Strudel could use more filling. You are eating more crust than the apfel. The New York Style Cheesecake tastes like it was frozen. It’s drizzle tastes like any strawberry sauce. Neither dessert was impressive.

We had a great times! They had live music, the entertainer was awesome. He was a guitarist that played a lot of old school music, which really got people into it. He took request and played along with the crowd. Our waitress, which i wish I could remember her name had tattoos and ear hoops was awesome. I do remember she was from the Detroit area. The beer was really good and overall it was a good time. My one criticism is the only bar munchies they had, was popcorn. Great place to stay and drink. You don’t even have to leave the building to go back to your room!

We had a terrible experience here. Definitely will never go back. It took over an hour to get the food we ordered. The waitress didnt know who ordered what. The bread on the rebuen sandwhich was burnt to a crisp. The side ceaser salad I ordered came out to me with just lettece and shaved parmesan cheese with zero dressing. After asking for the dressing it took 15 minutes to get it.We had a table of 7 and only 2 of our orders were correct. My boyfriend asked the server if they had 2 ingredients to make his drink, and she said she’d ask. Several minutes later, she came back and said yes we have those, so he ordered the drink. After 20 minutes she returned to tell him they don’t have the liquor he requested. He had to flag down the bartender who reluctantly brought him a draft beer and said it’s the server’s job to take drink requests. He and another one of us ordered a beer from the waitress and they never came. When they tried going to the bar to get their drinks, they were greeted with a very poor attitude saying “you’d think it’d be easier to just come up here and order a drink, but it’s just not”. The Manager didnt care that we had a horrible dining experience. Instead, he got very defensive and unprofessional. Don’t waste your time going to this place.

The wife and I have dined and drank here on multiple occasions. The live music is a nice added bonus. They don’t have a very large menu selection, but a decent enough amount. The Reuben egg rolls are our favorite. I will say, on our last visit, Sunday evening April 16th, there were only two other customers, but the service was incredibly slow. At one point in the night I ended up ordering two drinks since I had no idea if/when our waitress would ever return. The other table had a different waiter, who was frequently around. I’m not sure why they had multiple servers when it was so dead. I do know that our waitress was also running room service orders, but the other one should have just been handling all tables in the restaruant.

I dined in with my boyfriend at around 6:15 pm. We were there for 45 min and our server only came up to the table one time. Someone else got our drink order, and someone else dropped off our bill (not even our own server, someone random). It was not busy as 3 of the workers were standing behind the bar talking. I am extremely disappointed with the service. I myself have 3+ years serving/restaurant experience, I was incredibly upset by the lack of service. We probably won’t be back.

A few of us went and got dinner and a few drinks at the lounge and our server (I believe her name was Andrea) was good. The food was okay but a bit steep for the prices. The main issue was when we arrived the individual who seated us almost seemed disgusted or upset when we arrived and ignored us several times and we were all shocked later when we mentioned it to someone else and they said she was a manager there for the bar. As someone who has gone here during autofest for several years now we were greatly disappointed in how much worse the restaurant has gotten in the last year.

This is a hidden gem! The food was great, our server was patient with our large group and there was plenty of room for us. The cheddar ale soup is a must try.. The pizza was perfect for our group.

The entrance is behind the INN behind the outdoor dining. It is where you go if you want to eat at Omas’s after 9pm. The live music was good and included a German sing a long!!
The food was excellent very flavourful and fresh. I had the Atlantic Cod and potato dumplings. The breading was delicious and the fish was flaky

The service was wonderful however the food was mediocre. The potato dumplings were great, the chicken Alfredo was bland and the chicken was dry. For $22, you got a handful of pasta with minimal sauce and thats kind of being generous. The barbecue burger was drenched in grease, the buns were soggy and practically baby food. Overall not a place that I would like to return to.

Love the atmosphere. Food was great. Service was attentive and right on the spot. We had the schnitzel, pretzel bites, and chicken caesar salad. All were priced well and delicious. There was live music outside with a large biergarten. Lots of people just enjoying themselves! Great time. Will probably eat here for dinner each night next time. Very convenient. That was the best caesar dressing I think we’ve ever had.
