I’m very disappointed, especially after being a repeat customer for years.
I have four children and have ordered cakes, cookies, and cupcakes from Black Rose Bakery multiple times. Unfortunately, my most recent experiences show a consistent decline in quality and customer service.
At my child’s previous birthday, the mermaid fin cake arrived broken and did not match the reference photo I provided. I spoke directly with the owner, who acknowledged the issue and offered me a $75 credit to use on a future order. I was told it would be noted on my account and that I didn’t need to do anything further.
When I placed an order for cupcakes for my son’s birthday, I again sent a clear photo reference of exactly what I wanted. I was told it would be no problem. I also reminded them of my $75 credit, which they confirmed.
On pickup day, however, the staff had no record of the credit. I was told the owner was on vacation and that there was nothing they could do except have me pay in full and wait for her to call me when she returned.
When I arrived at my son’s party and opened the box, I was extremely disappointed. The cupcakes were very sloppy, poorly finished, and did not resemble the inspiration photo I provided. This did not look like work from a professional European bakery and certainly did not justify the $133 price tag.
The party was on January 3rd. I called the bakery on January 7th and was told the owner would return my call. As of January 21st, I have still not heard back.
Mistakes happen, but the lack of follow-through, accountability, and communication is unacceptable—especially for a loyal customer who has spent a significant amount of money here over the years. Sadly, I won’t be returning or recommending Black Rose Bakery.

Decadent European style bakery. But prices on very high side. Great tasting cakes, pastries, scones and cannolis. Okay for an occasional indulge.

The cake was good, but they design as what they want. I ordered a cake for 25 yr old men and what i get is below. I ordered Gold and received white cake.
Call the store twice and no one called me back for the same. When I call today after 10 days they asked me to bring the cake so they can refund.
No apologies to spoil my moment. Baker still find it beautiful for a men’s Birthday party. Really disappointed with our experience.

Tiramisu Cannoli was good. Ricotta Cannoli felt average. Cinnamon log and raspberry log needed more substance. Tasted more like a mouth of pie crust. Service was like my doctor… needed more bedside manner. (Friendliness felt forced- not genuine) Although presentation was pretty, the end result was lackluster.

We recently ordered a full sheet size cake that serves 70-80 people. The cake was stunning and delicious. The baker did an incredible job and was able to bring my vision to light . However the service was not upto the mark. When we went yo pick the cake , noone was able to pack the cake properly. They were asking us to take the cake home with the lid open . After explaining seevral time and for more than an hour that it will contaminate the cake , they figured out a way to pack for us.
Its odd for such a huge bakery to sell custom cakes and not know how to pack it. I had to spend 1.5 hr in the bakery while they were figuring out how to pack it. This could have been avoided had the team given it a thought before pickup time.
On a day of event wasting 1.5 hrs standing in a bakery to get your cake packed is a nuisance thats why i rated 1 star in service.

One of the best bakerys in the state. Truly can tell these are trained technical bakers. Been to this place dozens of times dating back to when it was Gerrardos. The new owner hasn’t changed much if anything which is a good thing. They are as consistent as any restaurant/bakery I’ve ever been which is just soo hard and a real testament to how seriously they take the craft. Really would be confident trying anything here. The strawberry cake is a stand out however. It’s really not a shortcake as it’s really light and fresh with an amazing custard. A couple of times the service has been a little frustrating. I.e. staff standing around and or talking with one another while one person waits on people as a larger and larger line forms. But honestly that’s a small gripe for what is otherwise a great place.

Save yourself the headache and frustration—only go here for pre-made items, but definitely do not trust them with important events.
