I did spend couple of hours there and worked.
Everything was so peaceful and quiet.
They were very kind and welcoming.
About food and coffee, the food was very yummy about coffee, I got one of the special ones, baklava pistachio, it was ok. Next time I definitely order regular coffee. 🙂
Highly recommend this cozy coffee shop.

I took hot flat white first time and I didn’t like it that much.

Later I tried Desert Rose latte, Orange Crush latte, and Banana Bread latte and omg I am a loyal client now, those are so so good. Lattes are not overly sweet just like they are in other places. The Owner cares so much about this place.
My only complaint is that I want to drink this awesome coffee from a real mug, not from a paper cup. I wish I can just bring my own mug. Can I (question for the Owner)?

One of the coolest cafes I’ve been to! Feels like something out of a movie. You walk in a hidden alley and enter a beautiful area with plenty of seating, an area to order drinks and food, and even more seating in the back with outlets and WiFi. The Jordanian chai was a first for me and was really good! The service is rly nice and there’s a mix of people working and chatting. Also, rly close to the parking garage!

Backyard Brew is a really fun and unique little spot. You kind of feel like you’re finding a secret coffee shop. You have to go through an alleyway to get to it.

Once you’re there, you’ll find a cute coffee shop that has some nice flavored lattes and some solid choices for food.

Definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

Discovering this place hiding off of California street was like stumbling through a brick wall into diagon alley. There are lots of odd bits and bobs around that give it an eccentric vibe. They had tons of fun drinks and I will be working my way down the menu. The cream biscuit was dry and tasteless but it won’t stop me from going back.

Backyard Brews is a hidden gem in the alleys right off of California Ave. The road has been secured for al dente dining, so the road to get here IS somewhat closed to the public — however, DO NOT FEAR! This coffee shop is bustling and is quite outdoors like no other. The serene sound of the fountains and the hustle and bustle of local businesses bring buzz and light to this hidden gem.

I love how it despite being outdoors, they still worked hard to make the best banana bread latte and croissant. Despite it being a little small, it didn’t really matter much because the coffee beans that they used were quite “arabica”…. with really strong coffee smell.

It gives a sense of community, and the coffee shop wasn’t too crowded at all. Kids were coming in and out with their families and it just makes sense to me that they did open an outdoor coffee shop like Backyard Brew did. Locally owned businesses for the win!

First time visit. Many students recommend this place. The surrounding is free, and relax. The coffee surprised me! People say there is only watery coffee in US. I thought so too until now. This is just one of the coffee shops around the corner. But hey, it IS really good.
I’m happy with my order. Avacado Toast which is light, mixture of fresh Avacado, and tomato and herbs that brings a little of some kick but not strong enough to take away the freshness of the greens.
One of the things I like about this place is that the casual and relax feeling is just a natural. There is no loud music to make the statement that this is a good coffee place. Everything I feel the whole time is a backyard where you can really enjoy the free time with great coffee.

Backyard brew….very cool ambience…love the sitting! Creative and peaceful..just grab your drink hooked up with book! Must visit place to check It out! Loved their dirty chai and almond joy! Very famous for avacado toast here! Unfortunately they don’t have it when I visit! But they said they will bring it up sometime next week, for substitute I got spinach and feta stuffed pie which is pretty good too!

I asked Google to find coffee places near me and I found this place and decided to go only cause of the name and pictures of location. It was like finding a secret society meeting location! Which was like an adventure in itself if you approach the location from the main street you will miss it if you’re not looking closely you have to be walking on the sidewalk it is a little tiny alley most artistically decorated and immediately has an atmosphere that is extremely welcoming and friendly a very rare spot and unique I have never been to a business like this ever it is amazing. I met the owner his name is Ryan he is very welcoming, friendly, very informative and very willing to share a little history about his place about his own coffee creations and very unique way they make their coffee with all fresh and independently attained healthy products he uses to make his coffee and food. I ordered a Richard with Nutella milk espresso and it was made absolutely perfectly balanced just the right amount of everything awesome amazing coffee. I also ordered because I heard somebody else order it a breakfast pupusa with jalapenos it is by far the most delicious perfect pupusa I have ever had this place is amazing, this place is pieced together with a lifetime of culinary and business history. There is a taco truck to the left as you enter from the back which looks exactly like you are entering someone’s backyard from an alley as you proceed through the back yard gate to your right is seating under pop up tents and outdoor umbrellas with propane heaters if it’s too cold The place is very busy and obviously a local spot. As you proceed past the taco truck on the left and pop up tent and outdoor umbrellas on the right to the left is a quaint little shed with art on it and next to that is the coffee barista bar where everything is prepared fresh from coffee grounds to real herbs and spices used in the coffee past that is another little seating area which all of this is under a backyard porch canopy and behind an old house that has been converted to an office which will soon be according to Ryan another extension to backyard brew in front of that is an ambient water fountain with very light pleasant and positive mix of Latin music playing as you pass by the fountain you are then passing through the artistically and culturally decorated tiny Alley that leads you through the front entrance to the main Street which you can’t help but turn around and look back and think to yourself this is a one of a kind place and you can’t wait to come back it truly is a very unique and amazing friendly warm and positive place to be! I will be back and I will tell everyone I know about this place and I will stop every time I am here without thinking twice no matter what is going on I have to stop it is that great and amazing hats off to Ryan for creating an extremely unique experience and place to be thank you Ryan and all of your staff who were all very positive grateful and happy.

This place is super super aesthetic and such a local gem! I came here on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed being able to sit for hours working while sipping on their turmeric latte. The wifi here is also fast, and I enjoyed the unique ambiance – there’s even a car as a decoration here! Would definitely recommend coming here.
