I ordered mofongo, yuca and sorullito, and a lemonade, I cannot express how delicious the mofongo was! And it was a good size portion too! I highly recommend this place.

Boricua aqui. First time at Phoenix Coqui and I decided to bring my parents. My mom ordered MOFONGO CON CAMARONES AL AJILLO. The mofongo was garlicky, delicious and not salty. It came with lots of shrimp that she could not finish. My dad ordered POLLO A LA CRIOLLA and it reminded me of Puerto Rico. I was not very hungry but had to try their empanadillas: setas (mushroom) + pizza. They were both freshly made and delicious. Of course we had to have MALTA INDIA to complete the experience. I cant wait to come back!

The food is to die for! It’s so flavorful, fresh, and cooked with love. I love how the food tasted as if it sat down in a kitchen and food served right up from the stove.

It’s a lot of food and great for the price. I definitely recommend the pernil, empanadas, and the chicken mofongo! The rice is so tasty that I could eat that for forever! The only thing I wish is that it had a bit more meat.

I ordered to-go from Phoenix Coqui and the staff were super nice. Restaurant is small but clean inside. I ordered a pernil plate and tostones con carne frita. I received huge portions of both for a cheap price. The pernil was slow cooked, smoky, and well-seasoned. I think it was cooked all day! Carne frita wa freshly fried and also well seasoned. So delicious. Tostones reminded me of being on the island; fried plantains are always yummy! I can’t wait to try everything else. If you want to try Puerto Rican food or are from the Island and want a taste in Phoenix, this is the place to go!

If you’re craving a true taste of Puerto Rico in Phoenix, Phoenix Coqui delivers big time! The food is absolutely on point — full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with love. The empanadas are next-level (crispy outside, packed inside), and every bite takes me straight back to the island.

Wow wow wow.
This place literally made my day. I moved to phoenix a couple of months ago and I just found the best puertorrican food I’ve ate outside of Puerto Rico, EVER. I am a born and raised puertorrican who is VERY VERY judgy about flavors, textures and AUTHENTICITY. This place literally makes you feel like you are back home. The place itself, the environment, the owners, the service offered… I had the Pizza Empanadilla and wow… I can’t even put into words how the first bite felt. After that, I ordered a Mofongo de Pollo with Caldito on the side…. Literally I was about to cry. One of the owners even brought me some pieces of Carne Frita so I could taste that too. It was beyond what I could’ve imagined. This is literally the best place ever. I can’t wait to go back and visit this place. 100% recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

SI ERES BORICUA, ESTE ES TU LUGAR. NO PARE MÁS!!!!!! ❤️‍

If you’ve ever been to Puerto Rico and had their food, this will bring back some good memories!

Pernil was perfectly seasoned and melts in your mouth!

Get the tostones, you’ll never want fries again from those other places!

Boricua de pura sepa! Gracias mi gente!

Overall had a great experience. I had the mofongo with pernil – delicious! My friend had the empanadillas one beef and one mushroom. She says they were both very good but preferred the mushroom. We went early in the afternoon so we had the place to ourselves it was a comfortable atmosphere.

Phoenix Coquí is hands down one of the best Puerto Rican restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food tastes like it came straight from the island. The carne frita was absolutely perfect crispy on the outside, tender and full of flavor on the inside. Paired with their yellow rice, every bite had that authentic sazón you just can’t fake.

But the star of the show for me was the pastelón. They nailed that sweet and savory balance layers cooked perfectly, cheese melted just right, and seasoned exactly how abuela would make it. It’s one of those dishes you try once and immediately know you’re coming back for.

Add in friendly service, a clean environment, and portions that actually fill you up, and Phoenix Coquí earns every one of these five stars. If you’re craving real Puerto Rican comfort food, this place is a must visit.

I was very disappointed with my meal here. I followed the restaurant on social media and was very excited to try Puerto Rican food during my vacation in Arizona. Service was poor. Waited a while to be acknowledged. I ordered mofongo con pernil. The portion is large. Three people can easily share the platter. No complaints flavor-wise, however the mofongo was too dry. Regarding the ambiance, there was a small child in the dining room with two other women, not sure if they were guests or friends of the owner, but the child had his tablet playing loud videos. I couldn’t wait to finish eating and leave the establishment. All in all, very disappointed. It’s great to see a Puerto Rican restaurant in the desert, but unfortunately this one I do not recommend.
UPDATE: Exactly 12 hours after eating here I got sick with food poisoning. Almost missed my flight for having to run to the bathroom to vomit.
PROCEEDED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
