In 1951 Charlie and his wife, Elizabeth Betty Streu started a grocery store and filling station at the end of Michigan Ave. The business was called Char-Bett Food Shop. The business flourished and outgrew the building, and in 1958 they decided to start a drive in restaurant, later known as Char-Bett Drive In. Charlie and Betty owned and operated Char-Bett until 1978. Today, Charbett’s is a staple in the Logansport, IN area. Stop in to see us today for one of your classic favorite ice cream treats!

Haven’t been in Logansport for a long time, but we just decided to hit the road from Indy and wander North and when passing by the city, decided to drive over and stop in for some lunch. The food was as good as I remembered. Still great prices, they walk out to your car and take your order and cook up the food within minutes. Cheeseburger was great, Spanish dog with spicy cheese was too. And the Red Indian ice cream, their specialty, which is cinnamon flavored and tastes a little like red hots, was the bomb. Definitely a classic and timeless spot and I was glad we were in the area and had time to stop for a bite to eat. Classic Indiana Americana. Don’t pass it by.

Stopped by on a whim. Service was EXCELLENT. We pulled in to the furthest spot away from the building (parking lot was almost full) and were going to walk to the window to order. Before we were two feet away from our truck a very nice young woman was already there to take our order! We each ordered a cheeseburger with a side of fries and the corn nuggets. Fries were awesome! My other half enjoyed the corn nuggets (they were a little sweet for me). Burgers were awesome! My only complaint was they used Miracle Whip instead of mayo, but that’s just my personal preference! Definitely recommend stopping to anyone craving some classic diner/drive-in food!

Perfect cool down during the heat wave!
We got the Lemon Ice Cream and some fries.
My toddler enjoyed it so much; I can’t wait to come back and try more.
The fries were also perfectly cooked and we got the cheese sauce on the side.
The waitress met us at the car which was super helpful.

I’ve driven by here hundreds of times on trips, but never taken the time to stop. That all changed today. Friendly people, great food and ice cream. Definitely will be stopping on future trips through the area!

Cute drive up/walk up cafe. Was not expecting car hop service, since I had seen customers at the window. Super friendly and the food is good. Bosco sticks (cheese filled breadsticks) are really good! Prices are great!

We stopped in after going for a hike and decided to some yummy food and icecream. I had my husband and children with me. We got out to order due to the server being indecently dressed and exposed. Walking up to cars and in front of cars adjusting herself. Very inappropriate for my 2 boys and for her to do in husband’s faces as she takes orders.. Everyone else was dressed appropriately except her.
The food was good but smaller portions than expected for the price. Ice cream was great!

I’ve passed by this place many times but I finally stopped today. I had a fantastic bacon cheeseburger with fries. Such a wonderful little burger stand. Cheap, too! I’ll have to get some ice cream, next time, but I was in a hurry.
