We popped in here last min on Valentine’s Day. Had the set menu for 2 – every single thing was delicious, service lovely too. Will definitely be back!

We had heard great things about Thai Number One, Lincoln and they didn’t disappoint! Service was wonderful and staff were all very welcoming, attentive and polite. The selection of vegan dishes was fantastic and each dish was authentic and flavoursome. My only piece of feedback would be to change the table cloths and napkins from paper to linen to heighten the experience. Thank you very much for a wonderful time!

This was my first visit to this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the service and atmosphere were great too.

We love Thai food, the venue was very tired & dated, however we could ignore that if the rest were fine. We were cramped into a corner, I had to go and ask the waitress to take the order. Set menu: soup was a few mushrooms and old rubbery chicken floating in coconut milk, it was awful, so we didn’t eat it. Starter platter: apart from the chicken satay and spring rolls, the rest were awful. The prawn toast was like a sponge used to clean the dishes. Yellow curry and the prawn dish had no flavour. We swapped the pork for Penang chicken, thank god, as that’s the only thing we had with rice and noodles in the end. Again I had to go and find the waitress to pay the full bill! The sad part is, I would have been happy to have authentic Thai food in an old run down place, even with poor service, but the food was genuinely awful. It was like someone had a go at making Thai food, not someone who makes it daily. I ask the owners, please sort it out, you’re giving Thai food and Thai hospitality a terrible reputation!

First visit on Saturday Evening, after hearing many good things.

I would describe the building and service as perhaps a bit too stereotypical of what we as British, expect of Asian style restaurants – a little dated in terms of decor and the service is pleasant but abrupt.

However, the menu and the food are fantastic, and you come to realise that maybe we are too busy judging appearance and mentality these days – we go somewhere because the food is good – and Thailand No1 is absolutely spot on for flavour, originality, texture, portion size and presentation.

Looking around the room we were in, you could clearly see wonderful dishes of food on every table, and we shall certainly return

After having passed the restaurant a few times when we have been in Lincoln, we finally got round to booking a table and had high expectations because from the outside it all looks very nice and clean etc.
However, that’s not the case once you’re inside, as it’s a very cramped small venue and you do feel like you’re eating with others as the tables are very close to each other.
The food wasn’t great either, curry sauce was like dishwater and even though we opted for a set menu, there wasn’t really anything that came out that was nice. We love Thai food and are always surprised when we choose a set menu as there’s always something that blows you away but not here. When the food came it was literally slammed down on the table, waitress jibbered what it was and couldn’t get away fast enough! They even tried the old service charge scenario when the bill came which I didn’t pay.
Would DEFINITELY not go back ever!

Visited twice in my 4-day trip to Lincoln, and always looked popular. (Note: it is larger than it looks and there is a room at the back.) Just a short distance from Lincoln cathedral and castle.

Authentic Thai dishes, that do not disappoint. On my first visit, I had the mixed starter (see photo), which the menu states is for a minimum of two people, but they also do it for one (consists of one each of fish cake, satay chicken, wrapped king prawn, chicken and prawn toast, and vegetable spring roll). On my second visit, I started with minced Prawn cakes. On both my main was a Chicken Green Curry, which had a spicy aftertaste that lingered nicely on the palate.

Looking around all the dishes on other tables looked great. Unfortunately, the desserts were limited, mostly to ice cream and fritters. Would have loved a cheesecake.

Suitable for singles (there were 5 singles on one of my visits), for couples, and for larger parties. With beer or large wine the prices were £33 / £36 (May 2025).

Staff were polite and helpful. When we first arrived the restaurant was very quiet but it soon was full. They were good with allergies and the menu is extensive so there’s lots to choose from. Service was slower when busy and so we waited a while for the bill but we weren’t in a rush so this was fine. Pricing was reasonable and all the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had heard good things about this place so was excited to try it. Booked a table for 4 on a Sat night & was told could have the table for 2 hours. We went at 5:30 as was seeing a show at the Cathedral at 7:30. The place was packed!!! Our order was taken quickly & our drinks and starters arrived within 15 mins. All good so far but that’s where it ends. The starters were ok but nothing to rave about. We then waited for 1hr 15 mins but still no mains arrived. We asked if it would be much longer as we only had 30mins left on the table & before we needed to leave. We were told we would be served next in 5 mins. Another 25 mins went by and we ended up leaving with no main course. They were quick to bring the bill for the drinks & starters though!!!
Another table next to us were only just receiving their mains after 2 hours.
Very disappointed! The deliveries for takeaways however were flying out the doors! Maybe they should concentrate more on their seated guests!! We won’t be going back again
