A Class Act and Unforgettable Evening
We chose La Cucina Italian Restaurant in Sunset Beach, NC, to celebrate my in-laws’ anniversary—a date filled with warmth and gentle sorrow, as we lost my father-in-law 11 years ago. It was more than a meal; it was deeply meaningful. The evening began wonderfully with La Cucina’s irresistible garlic bread. Our entrees were equally outstanding. My mother-in-law and I enjoyed the hearty Baked Stuffed Shells Bolognaise. My husband loved the flavorful rich, creamy Shrimp Gorgonzola, my sisters-in-law loved the zesty Homemade Italian Sausage and Shrimp Ala Vino. What truly elevated our evening was our server, Karina. Her warmth, authenticity, and genuine kindness made us feel special and valued. Karina’s personable charm and attentive care turned our gathering into something special. The highlight came at the end when Karina surprised us with a generous, complimentary piece of decadent Tiramisu after overhearing our anniversary conversation. This thoughtful gesture deeply touched us, especially following a contrasting experience the previous night at another local restaurant, where, despite our longstanding relationship, we were charged for a disappointing dessert. La Cucina, particularly Karina, provided exceptional food and heartfelt hospitality. Other restaurants could learn from their example of genuine care and kindness! We’ll certainly return soon and often.

I’m super impressed with this place! I ordered the chicken Parmesan with fettuccine and it was cooked to perfection. The pleasant ambiance of this place makes the atmosphere perfect. My waiter, Tommy, was very friendly and attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. However I recommend you make a reservation because it will be a wait but it’s sooooo worth it! I dare say La Cucina is a true gem over by the Carolina coast!

A friend recommended we come for dinner after visiting the Planetarium. The service was great. The food was good & ample sized portions. The salads were just ‘Ok’. My only complaint was the smell of the fresh parmesan cheese. It was too strong for me, but my husband was fine with it.

Food was great. Well tried the baked stuffed shells, spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken Alfredo. Malaki was very presentable and very friendly! The layout of the place was pretty cool and very quiet. I especially appreciate the dim lighting. Very nice vibes! Will be back!

This was the best, most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had! You will never be able to return to “Italian” like Olive Garden again after having this! The bread was amazing and the pasta was perfect. I will be back for sure! The kids meals were huge, they lasted my kids 3-4 meals each. My husband said it was hands down the best lasagna he’s ever eaten. You need a reservation but they got us in right away since we got there right as they opened.

Today was my husband’s Birthday so I wanted to find a new place to go for dinner. He loves Italian, so after reading the reviews of others, decided to make a reservation at La Cucina. Outstanding. Finally we found a very good restaurant in our area. Tom has the special of shrimp and calamari fra diolvo. He loved it! So much food that he figures he can have 2 more meals from the leftovers. The garlic bread they give you was very good. I had the veal Marsala which was also very good. Pasta is very fresh. Ryan was our waiter and he was fantastic. Great personality, extremely customer service oriented and funny too. He actually empty our plates into the to go containers, which I haven’t seen in years. He knows what customer service means!
Definitely make a reservation as a lot of people were turned away on a Saturday night.

This place is so good! Highly recommend reservations though, as the restaurant itself is small inside and very busy. We got the chicken parm and the manicotti with alfredo sauce and shared them (see photo), they were both outstanding (and so much food)! Also, complementary garlic bread was amazing! Entrees also come with choice of Caesar or house salad which were great too.

Absolutely the BEST Italian food I have eaten to this point in my life. Absolutely everything made from scratch, the tomato sauce was spectacular, the alfredo was as well. The portions were amazing, there was a great variety to choose from, plentry of reasons to go back.
