The place was clean and nicely decorated, and we chose the hibachi seating, which was a great decision. Our chef, QuQu (I believe that was his name), was fantastic — extremely engaging, funny, and he really put on a great show. He kept the whole table entertained the entire time.
We tried a few items off the menu, starting with the shrimp tempura roll, which is always a safe choice and did not disappoint — crispy and fresh. The West Hartford Center Roll was my favorite of the night; the tempura lobster made it a must-try. We also had the yellowtail sashimi, which was super fresh.
For my main course, I ordered the Ichiro Special, which came with lobster, chicken, steak, shrimp, rice, noodles, and vegetables — an insane amount of food, and everything tasted great. No complaints at all.
To top it off, they brought out a birthday dessert, complete with drums and singing at the table, which made the night even more fun. Everyone had a great time, the food was flavorful across the board, and the experience was excellent.
We’ll definitely be back in the future. Highly recommend!
Tonight we went for a friend’s birthday and it wasn’t even the usual basic fun experience. It was awful.
Our chef slopped food everywhere, no seasoning, burned everything, no suki fun, no onion volcano or egg tricks. It was astounding. We all felt like we were bothering them to be there. I barely touched my food. Had to accost the stuff for drinks.
We spent good money and were very disappointed. I won’t be returning. There are other local places that make you feel welcome and make not only the food delicious, but the experience enjoyable.
I’d highly suggest going somewhere else.
We had two of the pick-your-own-rolls (3 for $16), two soft drinks and one veggie tempura appetizer for $48 plus tip. Not a bad price for all the food and the rolls were so tasty. They were made well and the perfect size. The vegetable tempura was good overall, however the zucchini was still quite waterlogged and didn’t fry well, but the broccoli, sweet potato, onion and asparagus were excellent. The roll selections came with a choice of miso soup or salad, although I think it should automatically come with both but it’s not a huge issue if you’re there for a lunch, but dinner guests may prefer both options.
Service was fantastic – our server checked on us throughout the meal and she was very kind. It also has plenty of pay-to-park options very nearby so parking isn’t an issue.
If you’re looking for a clean, quick bite with numerous options for meat and non-meat eaters, you can’t go wrong with Ichiro!
I also let the waitress know, and she just stared at me and didn’t say anything. Even the hibachi area in the back was freezing cold; the only source of heat was the hibachi grill itself. The restaurant is located in a well-known area in West Hartford, so I was surprised by the cheapness when it came to providing heat. I found it extremely inconsiderate to customers. We had to rush and pack up our food to leave because we couldn’t enjoy it. You guys need to do better. Not only for the costumers, but for your employees! I can’t imagine having to work in those conditions.
And if you want to eat at a hibachi table you have to make reservations!!!
Hibachi chef was awesome and kept us entertained. Very busy on a Friday night!! Food was tasty and portions were a good size! Staff were helpful and friendly.
***not sure if this is only hibachi, but there is a 20% service fee that is charged AUTOMATICALLY to your bill. We were told this AFTER we got the check!!!!! No pre warning before you sit down and eat!
