Came in here for a brisket sandwich, and a side of coleslaw. Place was pretty empty. After waiting around 15 minutes, we finally got our food.

The brisket was DRY, specially the edges. The edges had a rubbery texture. (see video) Cole slaw was super bland and had an off color. Like it been sitting out for a while.

The best thing about this place was the music they were playing in the background .

$31 for the brisket sandwich and coleslaw, never again.

Maple Block at Grand Central Market brings serious smoke and even more flavor to the heart of DTLA. Known for their legit wood-smoked BBQ, this outpost keeps the good times rolling from lunch through late bites. Their house-cured thick-cut bacon is addictive—sweet, smoky, with just the right amount of crisp. Try their brisket sandwich, smoky and tender enough to silence a table full of hungry people. The pulled pork is no slouch either, especially when paired with tangy slaw and their house BBQ sauce.

The vibe? Super inviting. Open-air market energy with a laid-back counter setup makes it great for families, groups, or solo pitstop diners who just want to sink into a tray of slow-cooked heaven. The staff is friendly, never pushy—they’ll steer you right if you’re new to the menu.

Taco Tuesdays, they roll out smoked meat tacos that rival some of L.A.’s best. Specials rotate often enough to keep locals coming back, and there’s usually something seasonal or inventive on deck (smoked turkey chili!!!)

Whether you’re herding the kids, catching up with friends, or just craving something meat-forward and masterfully done, Maple Block delivers. Great food, casual-yet-cool atmosphere, and a little something for everyone—this spot is a reminder that BBQ doesn’t need to be fussy to be fantastic.

Good location to have a beer outdoors and enjoy a bit of the downtown vibe. Just don’t expect too much from the food or service.

A nice variety of beers on tap. This is a walkup service. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar. Seating is on a first come basis. Food quality is average to sub par. Chicken salad can with burnt pieces of chicken. The Mac and cheese didn’t have the flavorful gooey taste you would expect . The well seasoned fries were definitely a hit so were the tri-tip tacos even though they were on the bit of experience side. Service was ok. We had to clean our own tables.

I would recommend purchasing food elsewhere in Grand Central Market and just purchase your beverage here.

Sad!! Lost Opportunity…. The location is the absolute BEST at the Grand Central Market. The food was delicious, The weather was perfect, it should have been standing room only, yet it was almost lonely on the patio. The Reason? The MUSIC was punk grunge played way too loud!! This is not a club. I hope the owners are Trust Fund Babies who don’t need the money! Even though it was slow at lunchtime I had to wipe down and clean my table!! It is a truly beautiful venue, I hope someone wakes up to turn this place around. BTW the inside of the Grand Central Market was VERY Busy!!! Good Luck!

Fun after work environment! Went here for lunch thanks to DineLA. The tri tip sandwich was PHENOMENAL!! I usually keep it simple with bbq places but getting this sandwich was 10/10. The bread and butter pickles actually complimented everything which surprised me b/c usually places use dill pickles. The onion rings were cooked perfectly as well and it was an extra bit of crunch needed. The actual tri tip was tender and flavorful and their bbq sauce was spectacular. Absolutely would get it again

Asked the cashier what meats were cooked fresh today, he said they only cooked a certain amount every day until they sold old. Well, what they cooked today was miniature ribs (NEVER seen ribs this small) and bone dry brisket that was grey, fat cap was’t render at all. So yea…ABSOLUTE BUST, avoid at all cost and just go to Moos in East LA.

BBQ restaurant/bar just outside of grand central market, I ordered the combo plate with the brisket. It was very good, I liked all the items from the corn bread, Mac n cheese, and the smoked brisket. The price was reasonable, the only con of the place is that there are only tables outside, often not very clean and with the company of insects.

Chicken grilled sandwich on sourdough (got it to go) was tasty enough but just too dry. You had to take a swig of your drink with each bite. They should put some coleslaw onto the sandwich. Tables outside looked nice but ya the club music was blasting you could hear it as you walked down the steps next to Angelflight.
