This was the most authentic Thai restaurant that we’ve been to since moving to Madison from Los Angeles. From the moment that you walk in, you can smell the wonderful food cooking. We had a delightful experience with the wait staff and will be back soon to see Jane! I would highly recommend this restaurant and, once again while writing this review, my mouth is watering for the delicious food!!!

Amazing customer service! My server Debbie was so helpful and attentive! Debbie explained all the dishes are made to order so it is easy to customize dishes! We were able to order the Pad Thai dish without fish sauce! The sauce for the Pad Thai was so rich in favor. We also ordered the Tom Kha! The Tom Kha was amazing not too spicy. ️ We also ordered fried rice without egg! Very good texture! The dishes we ordered came out promptly even though it was busy!

Enjoyed having a wonderful dinner at this place. Ambience, dishes, portion, taste and smiling staff will make you feel special. We ordered some of the best dishes like Mango curry, fried rice, satay…and really enjoyed authentic thai dishes. Recommend this restaurant chain and am sure you will love it.

2024-02-18 update
In general the food was good. The salmon smelled off and our guest asked to send it back. The waitress called the owner who refused to remove it from the bill because it was expensive and popular (despite smelling off). We replaced it with a wide rice noodle dish, but they charged us the higher amount for the salmon. I’ve never seen such behavior by a restaurant owner before and felt it was penny wise and pound foolish and very disrespectful of customers.
Our other dishes were OK. The wide rice noodles were neither crispy nor firm – but not too soggy.

Great Thai food! We loved that the food was fresh and quick and very flavorful! We ordered the crab Rangoon, fresh spring rolls, shrimp purse and pad Thai! All was honestly great and this was enough for 2 people if the 2 people aren’t starving! My only wish is that they have some kind of Chilli oil or something incase you would like a kick in your food!

First: as other people said, the curries are really good. However, I would say the dining experience and communication in general could be improved. We left another restaurant before coming here because they said the wait would be an hour, which is totally fine – I’m happy they had that much business. However, after being seated at Sa-Bai Thong, it took probably about 75 to be brought our food. I totally get that sometimes restaurants get busy, but I thought it was kind of thoughtless of them to not mentioned that they were slammed.
For the food itself, the curry was good. The stir fry noodle dish was not very good, though – the noodles were almost mealy, and the dish as a whole wasn’t super great. The service was generally fine – everyone was clearly in a rush, and one of the waitresses promised something, then didn’t follow through – but again, there is only so much you can do when you are busy. I would say maybe give this restaurant a try, but only when you have plenty of time to spare.

My family and I have been eating here for 20+ years. We get delivery and it never disappoints. Best chicken egg rolls you’ll ever have. 42b with chicken is my favorite it is always so much food that it last 2 meals at least! Thank you for being a staple spot on the west side of Madison!

This used to be such a great staple restaurant for my celiac family but two of our last 3 orders have come with errors that make it unsafe for us to consume the food. Tonight they aren’t even answering the phones to address the issue. It’s so disappointing but for the cost of it we will likely no longer be ordering delivery, it’s just not worth it.

Excellent meal, wonderful service, and relaxing ambiance. We ordered two beers, a shrimp purse appetizer, an order of pad Thai, and an order of tom kha soup with chicken. Everything was delectable–the beer was ice cold, and the food was perfectly warm. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. We’ll be back!
