We had a great dinner here! It wasn’t 100% about the food. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying the pizza. I didn’t love the minestrone. It was good. Just not Fab. This spumoni is top-notch. The real deal. And my husband loved his lasagna, and the bread is excellent as well. When it comes to atmosphere and Service. It is definitely five stars. Lots of old world, charm, and, hard-working people here.

This is definitely not in an area you would be in unless you are looking for great Italian food with amazing mozzarella sticks. This place rocks! I came here because I am always on the search for mozzarella sticks and this place did not disappoint me. Plus the service was impeccable and the lasagna was to die for. Definitely a place to come. Love the old style decor and the feel of this homey place.

Fantastic, old school pizza place with an old world theme and setting. The food is truly delicious and exceptional. The service dining in can be amazing but also can be a delayed if it gets busy. We came in here once during an especially stressful night and one of the servers seemed to be having a really tough day. She served us and then forgot that she served us and then forgot what we ordered so only charged us for salad. We obviously paid for the rest, and that once situation was no indicative of the other experiences I have had here, but it’s worth pointing out.
I love this place, I do prefer getting there pizza for pick up, or coming on a quiet evening.

Love it!! So charming, waiters are accommodating, like a step back in Italian time. Food & drinks are great!! Get the cannelloni, it won’t let you down.

WOW! A tasty treat after tripping around the city for the day. I had the baked lasagna and it was a cheesy platter of love! Anastasia was our server and she had her hands full with a packed house. She did a fantastic job! Yummmmm! Worth the wait. Next time I am trying some pizza for sure.

I’ve walked past this place many times. Today, I decided to finally enter and try the food.
I was met with a retro diner looking restaurant, with booths, a gumball machine, and music machine things. It was dimly lit. A man gave me a menu, bread, butter, a plate, and flatware. I got the spaghetti al pesto, iced tea for my drink, and spumone for dessert.
The pasta came out quick and was warm. The pesto was really good. It was creamy, flavorful, and was really smooth and emulsified. It was an ample portion of spaghetti. I wasn’t super hungry and couldn’t finish it so I got a to-go box. I struggled for a bit with it and googled how to eat pasta in an Italian restaurant. Excluding pizzerias, this was the first proper Italian restaurant I’ve ever been in. Turns out, you put the spaghetti on your plate and use the spoon to cover it with sauce, then eat it with the fork alone. The bread is used to soak up leftover sauce.
Speaking of the bread, it wasn’t super fresh. Bread is usually baked in the morning though so that’s fine. I would’ve preferred softened butter instead of hard butter.
The iced tea was just fine. It’s what you’d expect in a diner or restaurant or some other place that doesn’t focus on tea. The spumone was very creamy and a satisfying end to a good meal. I didn’t know spumone existed before today so it was the best spumone I’ve ever had.
My total came out to be around $26 and just under $31 with the tip. I’ll probably come again to try more Italian food.

The atmosphere here was amazing, and the service was perfect. But the real prize was the food. The salad and fried mozzarella sticks was out super quick and the pizza we ordered was the best pizza I’ve ever had. Not sure how ill eat pizza after I’ve been here.

This was 3 years ago :- I first went to this establishment over 50 years ago when it was named Vince’s. While it appears that the owner’s have changed hands, it has not changed much from my childhood. They still have the super thin crust pizza that I love and the jukebox at each table as way back when. While I have moved away from the city, I always try to go when I am in the area!
I recently had a pie delivered to my hotel but was slightly disappointed. No longer was the crust thin and had turned into a rather normal pizza and have deducted 2 stars. Guess things change over time and have yet one less place to visit in S.F.

If you go to gaspar’s make sure you order the Bruce’s special pizza that is the most incredible pizza your mouth will ever devour my family and I have been going there for 40 years only downside would be the one waitress she tends to talk a lot instead of checking on her tables other than that food is amazing
