We have eaten here before and have always been pleased with the food and the service. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be going back. We walked in on a weekday, Tuesday , around 8. There were no other customers. We were greeted and promptly seated. The strawberry daiquiri was beyond sweet, like it was only mixer. The salad was very skimpy and and plated horribly. The dressing was flavorful. The soup was basic. Our waitress checked on us only when she brought me my drink. The soy sauce and salt/pepper shakers were very dirty and sticky. We cleaned them off ourselves. The staff sat at the bar right behind us. You could hear their conversations over ours. The Chef was great. The meat and scallops were cooked perfectly. After we finished we had to ask for our check and for a box since we were not checked on. I don’t normally complain about service and needing attention but for the prices and what we spent, I did expect better service than I’d get at Mc. Donalds.

I wish we would had read more about the previous reviews before we came here and spent almost $300. Worst hibachi restaurant we have been to…We ordered steak medium rare, and got it medium/well done. Food did not taste fresh. Service was friendly, but our waitress was dressed unprofessional. She was wearing tight stretchy shorts. The restaurant was also hot. They had a fan running to try to cool it down.

Outside appearance is less than inviting. However once you go in the restaurant is clean the people are nice the food is good. We both enjoyed our experience.

Wow! Crystal was the most amazing server! She was very attentive and made our meal even better! Michael was an amazing chef that made sure our food tasted amazing, helped with anything we asked and was so fun to watch! The others in the resteraunt stopped by and checked on us and made sure we were good. We ordered the pork spring rolls to start and they were crispy and flavorful with the perfect amount of pork so it wasnt overpowering. For mains we ordered the steak w/ noodles and the filet & shrimp w/ fried rice and they both were really flavorful. The most amazing part though was when we ordered Crystal asked if there were any allergies at the table for the shrimp which we really enjoyed being a family with allergies. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the veggies were very flavorful.

Cute little spot here at Hampton VA, really good variety of options for everyone. The waiters were all nice, we went there for sushi and they have the place setup as hibachi in the front and sushi in the back. Their yakisoba was really good as well as their sushi varieties. The only thing was that it was incredibly hot in our section, I’m not sure if it’s because the hibachi was in the front but it was humid outside and the restraunt felt exactly like it was outside.

Tokyo Japanese Steak House is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of energy. The chefs are true entertainers — skilled, funny, and interactive — turning dinner into a show that keeps everyone smiling and engaged.

The food? Incredible. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked right in front of us. The steak was tender, the shrimp was juicy, and the fried rice was out of this world. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into every dish.

The service was just as impressive — attentive, friendly, and quick without ever feeling rushed. They made sure our drinks stayed full and our table stayed happy.

Whether you’re going for a date night, family dinner, or just to treat yourself, Tokyo Japanese Steak House is a must-visit. Great food, great vibes, and a great time every single visit!

Some of the best Hibachi I have had in a long time. My spouse and I have been here a couple of times and we are always happy with the food and service. Highly recommend the Filet Mignon hibachi, it’s so tender and well-seasoned. Gyoza are also delicious, and even though I don’t care for ginger dressing, I actually like their salad.

Staff are friendly and welcoming and the service is very quick! Overall a great experience.

The restaurant isn’t very large and fills capacity quickly during prime eating times. As the focus seems to be hibachi, there is usually a bit of a wait when ordering off the menu. However, it is fresh and delicious. The portions are smaller in comparison to other sushi restaurants, but unsure of the portion sizes with the Hibachi because we have yet to enjoy that part of the restaurant. Overall, the experience was good, and I look forward to it next visit. Update: We have had the Hibachi the last three visits. This last time, we were told it would be a very long wait to fill a table for Hibachi, so we sat in the dining area. It is a two table section alongside the sushi station. We waited 15 minutes for service after being seated. The restaurant was busy. We ordered enough food for lunch, a snack later, and leftovers for lunch tomorrow! We wanted a little of everything this visit. Our soup arrived quickly and was served hot and was very tasty. Shortly after, we received our salad, appetizers, and main course of Hibachi all at the same time. We also ordered sushi later than our initial order, and that arrived within a minute of the delivery of everything else. Everything was very good. The spring rolls had the perfect amount of crunch and soft you would want. We ordered one vegetable and one pork. They were served with thai sweet chili sauce and were delicious! The Philadelphia roll was bland. The Volcan roll was delicious. A little too much mayo but overall yummy. The Hibachi portion size was pretty small, considering the price. We both ordered shrimp and chicken hibachi. It was smaller than what we are served when seated at the hibachi table. It was good, just too much of some sort of sauce, maybe teriyaki on top of everything. The vegetables are my favorite, and again, a very small portion size in comparison when seated at the table. The salad is always fresh and good. The service is friendly and attentive. There are usually an overwhelming number of customers that table service is slighted compared to sitting at a hibachi table. My daughter always orders Ramune to drink, which is a nice treat but twice the price we pay anywhere else.
