Was a great experience for my sister and I. They have Basa fish which is the best fried fish to me (breading was well seasoned). You get two BIG pieces of fish with a dinner. It includes hush puppies but we were disappointed because they were no bigger than a fork (two bites and you’re done). Nevertheless, I would come back and tell a friend. Hope they open a location in Avon soon.

This is one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had. Ever!
The bread was perfectly toasted. The snapper fillet well seasoned for the sandwich. The combo of the onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and sweet pickles where one of the best combination I have had in a fish sandwich.
Please note I am not a pickles person, but the sweet pickles was an awesome Addy.
It came with a side of fries.
I also went ahead and got some fried okra.
Try this spot please, be specific about what want and then enjoy.
Thank me later.

It is not often in the Midwest you can find good quality seafood for an affordable price but I was very impressed with the Calamari steak and the shrimp. Really liked their dipping sauce for the fried oysters. I look forward to trying the crab cakes and clam strips next time. Brian and Rex were polite and the food did take about 20 mins or so but it was hot and fresh.

Tried this place for the first time today for take out lunch. No one eating inside and only one other person in line to order but the unfriendly young man at the register told us AFTER we placed our order that another big order had just came in and we’d have to wait 30 minutes for our food. When we finally got our food we were pleased with the large portions ($30 for 2 dinners) but disappointed in the fish, hush puppies, and fries that were all soft and floppy. Fried food should have a little crisp to it. One of our crab cakes tasted absolutely rancid and we had to throw it away. Also, I’m from New Orleans and you can’t call Caplingers food New Orleans style just because it’s spicy.

Very good. Usually a long line, long wait but worth it. We have had the blackened salmon, cod dinner and lobster rolls.

My wife and I just tried this spot for the first time. It was delicious! I am a huge seafood fan, my wife not so much, however there were great options for both of us. I had the Caplinger’s Special (basa fish) it was awesome and my wife had the pork tenderloin which was great as well. The hush puppies and mac ‘n cheese we’re perfection! Prices were super reasonable for the quality as well! They also have a huge selection of fresh and frozen fish, rubs/spices, and more. Staff went above and beyond. Yes there is a slight wait (I’m sure it can get long when they get busy) but it’s worth it to know you’re order was just freshly prepared! Plus if you don’t want to wait you can order ahead online or by phone. We can’t wait to come back!

So far this place is just awesome. Can’t tell you how excited I was to get a legit seafood restaurant and fishmonger just a few minutes away from me. It’s a rarity just about anywhere in Indiana, and to get one this good in Whitestown is amazing. All the seafood on display looked super fresh, and the sample we were given of tuna fish spread was incredible. I grabbed the Caplingers special for lunch as a sandwich and I almost thought they had given me a fried tenderloin at first. The fish was huge! Will definitely be back.

Nice addition to the area. We tried out Caplingers the other night for the first time. It seemed to be pretty popular already, so I was excited to give it a try. My family ordered lots of different things so we all got to try many options. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. After we ordered and sat down I bet we waited 30 minutes for our food, which was a lot longer than we expected. When our food finally arrived it was hot and fresh, and generally tasted pretty good. The fries were a big hit, the other sides of corn and chipotle slaw were just ok. Nothing was bad, but also nothing was really amazing either. At the end of the meal we agreed that we would likely eat there again sometime, but maybe not for a little while. Good spot for a slow lunch or dinner of fish and chips, but don’t set your expectations too high just yet.

Always great food, my wife loves the lobster roll, I usually get a fish sandwich, the fish is always cooked perfectly and you get a nice sized filet. Everything is fresh, love it!!

When we came in there was no waiting at all. The lady at the counter recommended the Basa platter so he had his baked and I tried the special which was salmon but I had it fried. All though we ordered only two meals, there was enough food for 2 adults and more. I was not able to finish the salmon and corn but I love yams so I eat half of them. Honestly the baked Basa was the best and I noticed my husband eat both servings of the red beans and rice so I guess he liked it. I would even recommend doing takeout. While we at the restaurant I noticed a gentleman by the name of Alfredo helping customers with their takeout. He seemed so proud of the food being served. I believe customer service is one of the top priorities besides great tasting food. We’ll be back.
