As far as bbq goes, this place is fine. The brisket is tender but needs too much sauce to give it flavor. The sausage has decent flavor but is crumbly. The beans are clearly canned and nothing special. The mac and cheese is obviously a Kraft mac and cheese equivalent and was also nothing special. The pulled pork was simply reheated too many times.
The corn muffin, though, was divine.

I was in Grand Rapids for a corporate event. After the team building dinner sat around at another restaurant, waiting for not just food, but drinks as well, I decided to head over to Famous Dave’s. Within minutes, I was not only seated, but had a frosty adult beverage in front of me. The waitress made certain that I was attended to. The food was excellent.

Delicious home cooked taste to all their food. It is the type of place you would imagine going to down south for some ol’ fashioned “Soul Food!” Our service was spectacular. There was a bit of a wait initially to get a table due to them being very busy, but you know it is a good place to eat when there are a lot of customers! 🙂

First timer yesterday. We got the Feast for two (carry out). & HOLY HEAVEN OF MEAT! This place is doing it right, very good food. Super impressed & the pricing wasn’t even bad. Also the girl checking us out in the back had awesome customer service! Thanks for making my first experience great!

Updated review: The service this go around was horrible. Two out of three of our orders were wrong and then when I told them about the mix up they actually argued with me about who was right and who was wrong. I’ll never eat there again.

The atmosphere here is a knockoff of a southern bbq joint. Sadly it’s a cheap knockoff. It’s enjoyable as long as you don’t look too closely!
I ordered the founders feast. This consists of 3 ribs, pulled pork, some roasted chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, fries, and a corn muffin. It was all pretty good, though nothing special. The best thing was the chicken. The ribs were a little dry, but not too bad. They need better bbq sauce. The value was very good.
The service was very good and very friendly.
The best comparison would be to Smokey Bones. Sadly for Dave’s, Smokey wins hands down. Though both fall easily to the many excellent bbq joints in Grand Rapids. Overall for what it is, I rate 3 1/2 stars. Needing to round, I give 3. Would I return? If someone else wants to!

We were in Grandville late midweek and stopped in for a late dinner. The Tuesday special was $10.00 off a feast for twjo, so we took a chance and it was delicious!! We had leftovers to take home. I had their on tap root beer, which was rich and frothy. The ribs were tender and the meat came off the bones easily. The baked beans were a touch spicy with chunks of well seasoned pork. The service was quick and the staff were friendly and unobtrusive. A nice evening out.

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Famous Dave’s. I had been here before (SEVERAL years ago) and was not at all impressed with the food. This visit was quite different. The brisket was tender with loads of flavor. The baked beans were great! Even though our server was new and still in training, she never failed to check on us. Even the trainer stopped by to ask our opinion of the new persons service. All in all we enjoyed our visit and our food. We will return to try out other menu items.

Fast, friendly service. Waitress has been there about a month. Very attentive. I had the pork stuffed baked potato – very delicious. My friend always has the catfish fingers. Plenty of food. Corn muffins were moist and crumbly. A great place to stop.

This place has amazing food. The Sampler Platter was great along with the Cajun Chicken sandwich although I will say that the sandwich wasn’t as spicy as expected but still really good. Our server was great also. I also had the long island Ice tea drink which was good but could be a touch sweeter. Next time I wanna try the Hot fudge Kahlua brownie. Looking forward to going back.
